Did y'all have hearing tests in school when y'all were younger?

Come to think of it, schools weren't doctors, why did they do hearing tests? Did anyone elses school require these hearing tests where they put you in a room and put on these headphones and play sounds and frequencies on different ears randomly and ask you if you can hear it, and the worst thing is that it was never anyone from the school, it was someone nobody knew, no uniforms, just a random casually dressed person, with a weird device, sketchy af.

Are you joking? It makes total sense for physical check-ups on school children (that's how I found out I needed glasses). It's not like it was checking you weren't trans or anything; that's invasive!

They are doctors (or trained technicians, at least) administering the tests. Who would refuse a non-invasive test to make sure their children won't fall behind in school? If you're colour-blind, short sighted or hard of hearing, it can make you look (and feel) stupid in school for not apparently not understanding the class, when you just can't see or hear it.

My daughter's studying to be a teacher. One day, she pointed out to the teacher that one of her classmates was colorblind so using red chalk on a green chalkboard wasn't a great idea. The student in question said it might be alright if there's enough contrast and asked the teacher to write something on the board to check. The board was already half full of text.

They were adults; ten year olds just assume everyone experiences everything the way they do.

DOH used to require schools to report hearing and vision. It was switched off to doctors who make money off of the DOH requirement to report a child's vision and hearing annually. It's a health insurance racket.

They were done by nurses.

They would check our temperature, height, hearing, vision, and check for hair lice. 2 kids in my class had lice. 🤮 Thank God I never got it.
