Would you consider your relationship with your work or job unhealthy?

In simpler terms what I am really asking is whether you would consider yourself a workaholic? If so is that out of necessity or choice because you just really love your job?

I would not consider this because I try to keep my work (although I genuinely like it) as low profile in my life as I can. It can be very difficult as there is a lot of emotional connection you have to make with others that requires a lot of work and that can be overwhelming and stressful.

Definitely not. And my intention in life is always to not work too hard. Just to relax and do the things I love as much as I can. I don't know why people came up with the grind being so important. You only live once. Might as well try to enjoy it.

I really like my job. It's the first job I've had where I don't loathe getting up in the morning for. But with that being said, I don't think I have an unhealthy relationship with my job and I don't consider myself to be a workaholic. They offer overtime a lot and I never take it because I don't want to stay longer than I have to. Yes, I could make a few extra dollars from the overtime, but again I really like my job but I don't love it.

I do not consider myself a workaholic or that my relationship with my work is unhealthy. However, I do really love my job, I will at times do an extra effort for it and I can't deny that it at times can be not so healthy and could very well break me one day if I'm not careful.

I spent years as a resentful workaholic

I'm now 5 years from retirement and I have given up any hope of being promoted. That's mostly because of my resentfulness. I burned bridges. But as an individual contributor I'm paid well. I hope to keep the job for the rest of my career. Not to blow things with by bad attitude.

Now I can relax given my ambition has run its course. I'm sorry I wasn't nicer and kept relations good with the people who matter🙂

But who knew

I'm definitely a workaholic for my personal business. Even when I tell myself to take a break, if I see even one thing related to it that needs to be done, I'm like, I'll just check this or do this real quick, and then I'll relax...and then it's 4 hours later. I really love it, but it's also a necessity to do it because my other job doesn't pay enough.

Some might say that I do. But those people are unhappy with thier jobs. I LOVE what I do!

I understand sometimes ya just have to do what ya have to do. But life is short. I would try to get past that as soon as possible and live your authentic life. And don't let OTHER PEOPLE tell you what that is.

I work too much. 6 days a week, most weeks without rarely having a break.

I worked for three years straight before I took any annual leave. I won't be doing that again.

Out of necessity. I work freelance, so any job that comes in is welcome. I try to get a good balance between work load, family life and personal free time.

Unhealthy, but I think that comes with owning a business that you run hands on. It generates a lot of income, but life has to be more than that.

yes, i like to get paid it lets me do what i want outside of work and have the stability i think is required to do so. I can't do that on a easy 40 hours.
