Why do people make medical professions like any other job?

unpopular opinion: medical jobs should not just be “A JOB” Being a doctor shouldn’t be just like any other job. Like seriously you have people’s lives, health and wellbeing in your hands and you’re complaining when you’re gonna get off work like you work at 7/11!!

Ooohhh!!! Nurse here!! So it is and it isn't like any other job. It is just like other jobs because there is still workplace drama, or dumb policies by management, or not being paid enough, or not being supported by management, not enough staff/coverage, etc. Many, many of my complaints you could make at any other job out there.

And yes, we absolutely do hold people's lives in our hands, which we all do take very seriously. But for us that work in these hospitals and are caring for people every day, it becomes normalized to us.

I'll be honest, when I first graduated and started working, I though it was flashy and cool. Now, after a few years, I definitely still like my job, but it all feels normal to me and like it really isn't that big of deal.

I still have my shitty days at work where I would literally pay someone else to be there instead of me. It is still a job, yes the stakes are higher, but it is still just a job.

When you treat a healer as a vendor of a service, you lose sight of the fact that they are entrusted with the care of a soul.
