My job was looking for new RNs and I found out that one person that interviewed was offered $50/hr at another place he interviewed. Tf. They only have 4 years of education but are making almost as much as someone that has more education and responsibility

Woah, $50/hr for an RN? That's insane money. No wonder they're making so much these days. A few reasons I can think of:
- There's a huge nursing shortage right now basically everywhere. Hospitals gotta pay up to attract good nurses.
- Nursing is tough work, especially lately with Covid. They basically run the floors and do most the hands-on care. They deserve good pay.
- Nurses can pick up tons of overtime if they want since hospitals are always busy. So their hourly may be less than some new docs but they can rack up the hours.
- For new resident doctors it takes forever just to get through training and paid peanuts the whole time. By the time they're fully practicing their earning potential is way higher than an RN.
- Nurses can get started right away with their bachelor's, while docs need med school then residency. So in the early career years nurses may catch up pay wise.
I'd be kinda annoyed too if I busted my ass in med school just to make the same as an RN. But nurses do so much for patients too, so they definitely earned higher pay in my book. Guess that's just how it is for now!
Well doctors make a lot more than that.
The job market also has a lot to do with it, in my industry new hires are starting into the mid 40s with 3 weeks training and no experience if you’re willing to work hard. If demand is high and supply is low, wages go up
