I try to make the job fun so I never get bored.
I had a job in `89 of inflating mylar balloons and putting them in shipping boxes. 36 balloons per box. My boss said I should be able to get 2 boxes done per hour (I think) so, I started doing it and he was right, I was getting 2 boxes per hour so, I tried to go faster the next hour and I think I got 3 boxes per hour. I did a little research and figured out a way to get 4 boxes per hour!! at the end of the day, he was expecting me to get a certain number of boxes done but I far exceeded that amount which so pleased and impressed him, he decided to give me a raise not only stating the next day but including all the balloons I did that day! So, I went from making 5c per balloon to 5.5c per balloon. I kept it up for the rest of the week and, again, he was so thrilled that he gave me ANOTHER raise including all the balloons I'd already done that week!! I'm pretty sure I was making 7c per balloon by the end of the first week!!

I tend to do that at a number of my jobs. Time myself the first time and see if I can do it faster next time.
I used to work in a print shop and we were sometimes given hand work jobs that most of the employees thought was really boring because it took so long. Like, inserting envelops into a newspaper. We might have 30,000 copies to stuff. I could blow through a stack of 50 copies in roughly half a minute while others were taking 3 to 5 MINUTES to get through one stack and that's if they DIDN'T stop every few seconds to talk to others at the table because, for some reason, they couldn't talk and work at the same time! So, NO WONDER the job took so long and was boring!! I'D have been bored shitless, too, if I went that slow!!

I suppose it comes from being a drummer but, Lola wasn't a drummer and she could easily keep up with and even go faster than me. She was 2' shorter than me so, I think that's why she was that fast.

At my old job i did. I did all my real work the first hour and had to look busy the rest of the day. The place was a really messed up place to work. People would disappear and nobody would talk about them. I was fired after 7 weeks. They would not tell me why I was fired and they even admitted that I came in every day on time and that I did everything that they asked me to do,

yes, the US. Every once in a while they still send me an email wanting to know if I am interested in a job. I was in charge of the engineers and technicians. I should have been suspicious when I found out the senior engineer was only there for 18 months.

I don't, as I'm currently self employed. I can take a break whenever I want and feel like it, unless I have an urgent matter to take care of and the time span is short.

I did so in a previous job though. August used to be really quiet and my direct boss was on holiday. I used to take a book to the office, sit in the meeting room, which was also filled with filing cabinets, and could read for hours. If someone came into the office, I just pretended I was filing documents.
