I'm an Audio/Video Integrator. This currently includes four main lines of business:
- TVs, speakers, music/video equipment.
- Networking & WiFi
- Security Camera systems.
- Smart Home Technologies (smart lights/door locks/card-key entry/irrigation/etc.)
About half of my work is for new builds/major remodels, where walls are open and we're running wiring for everything during the build, and then we come back just before the job is completed and install the equipment: the speakers, TVs, cameras, and networking.
Maybe 30% is doing simpler jobs, like upgrading TVs or sound systems or adding gear to an additional room - things like that.
And the last 20% or so is doing commercial/business jobs. For example, I have a couple of assisted living companies and I do all the security camera systems at all of their locations. Lately one of the companies has been adding a bunch of cameras to their existing systems, so I go to their various locations and install them. The furthest locations are roughly a 75 mile drive each way, from the southern Bay Area up to the Sacramento area.
