Is Tony Robbins a fraud?

I discovered this guy yesterday. I haven't done any in-depth research on him, but it seems like some kind of scam to rip people off, lol.

But at the same time, it seems he has coached important people, like athletes, etc., so I figure what he says must not be complete nonsense.


What is your opinion? Have you read any of his books or taken any of his courses? Did it help you?

Don't know a lot about him, but one thing I've heard him talk about is the phrase "you made me mad". A common way of thinking about it to be sure. His assertion is that You ultimately have control over how you feel, therefor YOU allowed that other person to cause yout anger because you can choose how to feel. Gives you a new way to look at something and something to work on... control.

As much as ANY motivational speaker is. What he says is basically true. But you don't need him selling common sense, positive thinking, and hard work. Anyone can do that. What he DOESN'T say is regardless of all that, luck, and timing will play a critical role in much of your success.

Case in point: my sister and I had the same upbringing basically, she's a hard worker and has a drive twice what mine was. And she went bankrupt, not once but twice. While I've got a high 6 figure net worth. I had a lot of luck in my life while she drew the short straw many times.

I'm not saying give up or don't try because I do think a lot of things were out of her control. But don't beat yourself up unnecessarily. I do think more often then not hard work pays off. But hard work DOES mean knowing your worth and demanding your worth when you got the cards to do so.

He has a big wallet. He saw that what he was saying and selling was enough to charge a heck of a lot of money for his conferences. He is a male life coach in simple terms.

So wherever you go to look for self help I could recommend... Michael Losier's book, Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don't, is a popular self-help guide that explains how to use the principle of "like attracts like" to manifest desires like wealth, relationships, and career success. He is the "go to man" on the law of attraction.

I don't have enough info on him to say "Yay" or "Nay" on whether of not he is a fraud. But there was a vice president with the company that I used to work for, who quoted him a lot. To me it was weird that he quoted a motivational speaker on conference calls. I'd expect more of the boring business stuff instead. This VP was a weird guy. He talked the company into letting him head up a project that he dreamed up. The company spent a lot of money on his dumb idea, that turned out to not benefit the company and helped another company instead. On conference calls, he would say stuff like, "When this project is over, I have completed my work with this company and I don't know right now what my future holds". (His way of saying he was being let go.) There was other stuff that he pulled that was bogus. I didn't respect him.

Tony Robbins is worth 600 million dollars, but I think Tony Robbins is mainly in the business of selling Tony Robbins (his bullshit seminars, books, cd's, podcasts, etc). He's a roadside carpetbagger that made it big and then diversified his portfolio into other investments.

No. Everything he teaches he's actually done himself. I've done one of his courses a few years ago and it helped. Not sure why he's suddenly everywhere at the moment, but he's the real deal.
