I have. Not proud of it but I lied and said my grandmother was really sick and needed me back home to quit the job.

Tons. They don't give a shit about you, so why should you about them? I'm an honest person when it comes to any other scenario or interaction, but when it comes to taking time off from work, I've made up a ton of BS.

I also lie in interviews about who I am... not credentials. But when it comes to qualities, I'm definitely not an extroverted person. I'm more of a lone wolf than a team player. I don't like fast paced environments. And I don't particularly like people telling me what to do. But I'll say I'm all of those things to land the job.

Yeah, one day I didn't feel like going in so I called in sick.

And another time, I was gonna take a day off anyways to go on a road trip. It just so happened I ate some bad Asian food and threw up during my shift, so I called and asked if I could have day off tomorrow. 😂

And I guess it's kind of half lying. On TWO separate ocassions I some how lost $20. Thankfully it was when we still had the primative system, so I was just taking people's money without ringing it up and it evened out. I never told ANYONE.

Of course, sometimes your forced to. I had a fight with an evil company doctor and later found out the HR team was against me and behind it all. Naturally I had to play it tactical rather than showing all my cards. And that can mean overtly lying if needed because had they had reason to fire me my life would have been destroyed at that point as I had a 2 year marathon to do with them to earn the proper health care status.

Yes I’ve done this before and it was because I was assigned to a client that hated working with any people of color. They offered to pay me $25/hr for the 12 hour shift and that wasn’t worth it to me. So I lied and said I couldn’t. Caring for that lady was one of my absolute worst experiences. She was down right horrible.

I haven’t lied at all in almost twenty years. Before that i lied all the time, almost compulsively. I lied when i didn’t need to and wouldn’t benefit at all. That includes on jobs. It never cost me my job, but it certainly didn’t help anything either.
