Generally no. Those that get the idea right are always getting the time volumes wrong.
I include Newspaper reporter because columnists are rarely depicted at all.
Ranking time consumption of the main parts of the job.
What media shows:

How it is:

4. Interviews (if any at all)

Preparation could be broken down into more areas as well. Where most still take longer than writing.

I forgot that most pop culture reporters generally fit into one of these archetypes which dont really exist:
1. "There is a conspiracy and I am the only one uncovering the truth." Everyone else is saying I am crazy.
2. Being first is more important than correct. (Yes kinda existing in tabloids)
3. Oh and interesting thing. The reporter that is shown as a standart reporter who produces headlines on the front cover, needs the most current and daylie publish, is often actually a columnist by how they write.

Nobody who doesn't do what I do has any understanding of what I do. Not really. Many people think they do, but when you ask them to describe it, they describe something that is completely inaccurate.
