What is a misconception about your job that annoys you?

I'm a welfare professional - I did not get into my line of work for prestige, that is for sure but goodness, there's a lot of just outright disrespectful people out there.

Met my friends new boyfriend, he asked what I do - I told him my profession & told him I worked with children with various of disabilities. His response (as so many others was) - "oh what an easy and nice job". I felt it in my bones, the annoyance of his ignorance and the annoyance of having to talk my profession up AGAIN. I kindly told him that yes, it was a very nice job but I wouldn't say it was easy. He then proceeded with a list of why he thought my job & just my line of work was easy, that we were expandable and that we are just "coffee drinking cozy aunts" and everyone could do our work. - which I already can say that not everyone can, I've seen people walk out after 3 hours because if was to much.

All I do I do is interview people and write a small text.

I work in IT. I am a network engineer and Systems administrator. A lot of people think that just because you work in IT you should be able to design websites, write code and maintain a database.

@BarryLiverstone. I did a contract job for a company that wanted to get rid of it's mainframe and terminals and go with PCs and servers. This was 30 years ago. I put in an ethernet network and a few hubs and even put terminal emulators on the PCs so they could transition out of the mainframe. When it was done the owners wanted me to build a website for them. I told them it was not what I did. The guy asks "but you're the computer guy aren't you?"

I deliver pizza for a living at the moment. The amount of times I’ve been asked if I have or ever would fuck one of my customers is infuriating.
