Each year on May 8th, millions of people across the country celebrate National Have a Coke Day. Coca-Cola, often referred to as Coke, is a carbonated soft drink produced by The Coca-Cola Company.

In the late 19th century, John Pemberton invented Coca-Cola, at Pemberton’s Eagle Drug and Chemical House in Columbus, Georgia. He intended to patent the beverage as medicine. However, Asa Griggs Candler bought out the business. Candler’s marketing tactics led Coke to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century.

I am in the minority as a lemon-lime fan lol but cool question - and in case you missed it, there is a very interesting show on Coke and the cola marketing wars - it's one of the episodes in the series "The food that built America".

It's cool and interesting as it tells the stories of how Coke became dominant and how Pepsi fought hard to catch them - and then when Coke did the "new Coke" disaster... and the diet stuff... etc.

I used to love Coke and other cola drinks out of glass bottles when I was a kid. I'm not fond of plastic bottles, though.
I used to buy big gulp cups at mini marts when I worked in the field driving all day.

But I haven't consumed Coca Cola or PepsiCo products for 20 years, ever since I found out about their evil corporate cultures. Not to mention how bad that shit is for you.

I don't consume much soda pop or bottled drinks at all anymore.

I'm not a total prude, though, and will drink a can of Coke or Pepsi on a picnic or camp out if that's what is in the ice chest.

I do enjoy a cold root beer on occasion. Okay, sometimes a glass of Mug root beer at a Pizza place, or a bottle of A&W root beer on a hot day. There is a really good burger place near us that has their own brand of root beer.
And I sometimes enjoy Jarritos cola, pineapple, mandarin, guava or mango flavors. Jarritos is pretty natural. No high fructose corn syrup.

Sparkling water, cola and red Bull are carbonated drinks which have place in my fridge. Sparkling water is for juice, cola is for whiskey and rum, red bull is exclusively for vodka. I don't drink coke or red bull without alcohol.

Never get sucked in by the likes of this company , while they still peddle this rubbish they cause premature death , and incredible amounts of dangerous tooth decay , if this stuff is on you list - GET IT OFF Immediately , they know exactly what they are doing.

Its not " if " it kills you , it will , its simply when it occurs , these products should never be taken lightly , there are no safe levels.

If the choice is cola soft drinks, I prefer Coca-Cola. Big K Cola (from Kroger) is actually not too bad for a generic. Even Summit at Aldi isn't too bad. RC is OK, has a certain distinctive less "herbal" flavor to me. Reminds me of the flavor of cola syrup our Kresge would put on son-sones (10¢ each, a loooooong time ago, back when underwear was sold loose, folded, placed in gass-compartmented shelves at the stores.

But yeah I like coke it's nice and better than Pepsi though Pepsi is always cheaper so coke is a rare thing to me. And so is Pepsi tbf there are cheaper brands. And if I am going expensive it's always Dr pepper.

When in Iceland my pick is ALWAYS coca cola when it comes to soda. In Denmark, I prefer orange or pineapple soda.

all my years in new york i NEVER heard of "National Coke Day" even as an ad for coca cola!

but now that CEO of coke sided with democrats on voter law they get boosted by liberals... think people.

at that time despite the S&P 500 being up, still Coke’s stock fell, go woke, coke go broke. i switched to monster n dr brown root beer. apparently enough did too, as above.
