Yes, I do believe offenders should get a final meal. The states with death penalties usually allow this, but at a cap so the offenders cannot order an extravagant meal just to try to screw the system (look up "Texas ridiculous last meal request"). Here in Tennessee that meal is $20 or less. That meal usually comes out of funds on the inmate's books or a general fund that is already allotted for the state's department of corrections.

Food is much more of a motivator for offenders than anyone who has never been locked up or worked in corrections can realize. Most of the fights I've had to intervene in were over food.

Also, having a decent final meal after eating prison food for decades is a great incentive for keeping offenders peaceful before the execution. This is a privilege that can be taken away if an offender causes problems on a regular basis for correctional staff, unless the offender's religion dictates they MUST get a final meal. This is good for officer safety as well as the support staff that help with executions.

Some religions mandate a final meal for someone being executed, and by law corrections staff have to honor GENUINE religious accommodations where possible and when it does not affect safety and security of the facility. And no, an offender cannot just declare a random religion and expect their request to be honored. Whatever religion an offender claims to follow, there is usually a consult with a team of chaplains of that faith and the chaplains advise the officers whether the offender is a true believer or just trying to be manipulative.

I think if someone killed someone painfully they should die as so.
So Arsenic in the shake or burger would be a nice touch.
My opinion is more case by case, which is the same for death penalty on a whole as I only agree with it if said person is proven without a doubt.
