Will my husband get over his disappointment?

He really wanted a boy. He grew up with only brothers (he's the youngest of 4 kids) and enjoyed activities with his father and grandfather. He wanted that same connection with a son too. Instead we're having twin daughters. He has no experience of raising a girl, much less raising two girls.

Needless to say he's disappointed. He doesn't know anything about raising a daughter and this really caught him off guard. Will he get over his disappointment? As for me, I'm feeling both happy but sad I couldn't give him the son he really wanted.

Yes. My family was very masculine. We all had daughters. Me 3. I could have never been happier. Illnever fistfightthem like I did my dad. I raised them right so i dontuave to worry. I just hope the find a decent respectable man that understands if he wants any of my wealth he has to abandon his last name and take mine.

He should. I really don't understand people who want children but only one gender of child. If you want to be a parent you have to be prepared for any situation. Having a child you are not the customer that gets what they want, you are the servant to your child basically. And if you're not ok with that then don't have children. This is why I don't want a child because I don't want to change my whole life based on the needs of someone else at least not yet. In a relationship there's still some negotiation and you can talk to the other person to figure things out so it's good for both of you but with a child you just have to take care of it and try your best. There's no excuses, no valid reasons to neglect your child or even subconsciously love it less because of some preference you have. The way you love your child will form the self image self love and the confidence of your child you're basicaly shaping the reality it will see the world through in a way. Of course people can overcome terrible childhood or can suck as people even with great parents but those are the exceptions the rule is that if you're loved as a child you will love yourself more later.

Anyway I'm ranting a bit but I take my responsibilities very seriously and that's why I'm careful not to take on more than I'm willing to follow through on. I wish you all the best though and I'm sure he will become a good dad :)

My experience indicates that dads figure out the value of a daughter — “daddy’s little girl” is a big thing in most parts of the world. And if he doesn’t get over it? Tough. Be happy. Some people can’t have kids and would give their eye teeth for a healthy baby girl. My goodness.

I haven't given birth to our twin girls yet. We just found out we're expecting daughters a couple days ago and so the news is still kind of fresh to him. Even though he got disappointed he's happy being a dad for the first time but doesn't have any experience of raising girls so he's a bit nervous.

WTF? He should be hoping for healthy!!! Nobody knows how to be a parent first time let alone gender specific parenting. Trust me. Hell fall in line quick and it will all seem normal cuz that's the experience. My one piece of unsolicited advice: When you're thinking about names randomly just yell out that name at the wall, up the stairs, because that's what you're going to be doing and you should like what you hear even though you're going to want to kill them. You also need a middle name that will get their attention when you use their middle name. They need to know when you mean business.

It's fine to want a baby if a certain sex but you get what you get. Some couples keep creating more babies until they get a set, others are happy with whatever they get.

I think you'll find every new parent is lacking experience raising a kid full time. As with most parents you put on your big person pants and learn. Those girls deserve parents who will do whatever it takes to cover their needs regardless of gender.

Too harsh don't you think? He doesn't know anything about raising daughters. That's an unknown topic to him and he'll learn on the way. He's happy for our babies though. He's just a bit nervous. I think it's naturally to feel that way if you never grew up with opposite gender siblings and were always close to the parent of the same gender.

This reminds me of some other couple that used to live several blocks from us. They had a daughter first and then they tried again, then again. On the other times, it still came out a daughter. They ended up having 3 daughters and stopped it there. There isn't much you can do. It's always a 50/50 chance.
