Should trans people be more understood?

Many people don't seem to understand them, could be more compassionate, the needless insults by many people and so on

The government by both republicans and democrats has used these people to create more government. It's despicable how these people are used.

Fact is these people will be who they are if they or certain trans people make it to heaven. Completely uncontrollable by government or other individuals. I'd prefer the time was spent actually reducing inflation government created and getting rid of trillions of needless government.

I'm honestly not sure what there is to understand. These are people who need help. All someone really needs to do is take a cursory glance at the lives and works of Volkmar Sigusch, Wilhelm Reich, John Money, Alfred Kinsey, and Helmut Kentler (among others) to see the kind of thinking that influenced these poor souls - in addition to many other people in today's world. Tell me if that seems like a healthy and sane backdrop to this lifestyle.

And since, by mentioning Heaven, you brought religion into the discussion, I have a thought. This really shows a key inconsistency with religious support of the wider LGBT movement as a whole. The same ideology which claims that "God doesn't make mistakes" if a person turns out to be gay essentially also says that God made a mistake in making a man a man and a woman a woman.

If anything of what I've said therefore makes me a bigot, a transphobe, a homophobe, or a whatever-the-current-thing-is-phobe, then so be it. Sure, these people should be showing compassion, but they also need HELP.

Well, it’s not as if there are two choices: Be less understanding about trans issueS OR reduce inflation. Those issues literally never overlap and have nothing to do with one another.


Having said that, people who don’t care about trans issues are no more or less a problem than people who don’t care about the issues of dozens and dozens of other groups of people. You could literally compile a list of people who have serious issues (or feel misunderstood and uncared for) that are both far more significant and effect more people than the minuscule transgender population. Everything from mental health issues, homeless veterans, substance abuse, sexual exploitation of children, domestic violence victims, indigenous people and their myriad of economic problems, unemployment, and so on. The list is just endless. To presume that transgender feelings are even close to the top of this list is kind of short-sighted.

I think so yes. Some people don't seem to understand that they're people with their own struggles-especially if they're suffering from dysphoria. I personally could care less whether someone is cis, trans, or NB because all I see is a human being. One thing that bugs me though is when people pretend to be trans just to invade the opposite sexes private spaces. It then makes it harder for those who are trans and passing to use the bathrooms that align with their gender. I remember there was a case where a trans girl (who was passing) was forced to use the boys bathroom. And a boy had thought of r**ing her. Why? Because in his eyes she's a girl using the boys bathroom. A lot of people don't understand some of the dangers trans people can go through. They only think of themselves.

They really should be more understood. Unfortunately right now, the right has turned them into the latest cultural boogeyman to rile up their base. It's the same tactics they used when African Americans were fighting for their rights, same thing they did for women in our fight, they did it again against gays and lesbians before gay marriage finally passed and now it's transgender people.

Unfortunately, the far right has learned no one will vote for their policies so they focus on culture wars to generate support for their policies by proxy. And that only works if they find the culture war topics that divide people the most - if people aren't angry enough they won't be so easily tricked into voting for bad policies. And at the moment trans women playing women's sports is really effective at making hateful people mad while also silencing would-be allies of the Trans community because they quietly agree they shouldn't be in women's sports.

"the far right learned no one wil vote for their policies". you realize it's a back and forth every term right? if what you said was true, trump would never have gotten president. the culture war is meant as a ruse to distract from the fact that whether you vote left or right doesn't matter at all. cause if people noticed that truth, the entire system would fall apart. but sadly people get all caught up in that nonsense.

The problem is bothsidesism/unipartyism is a tool of the right. Ask yourself when you last saw bothsidesism used to discourage right wingers from voting - ask when gun control, trans rights, socialism, etc was brought up, how loud was the cacophony of "bothsides!" Then compare that to the volume of "bothsides!" when republicans are criticized.

I understand frustrations with the democratic party more than most, but the frustrations are with position not direction. Being only slightly more reasonable than completely unreasonable is frustrating but unavoidable for any realistic solution to complete unreason.
In any case casting things as left versus right only serves to obfuscate those things that are in neither direction, drawing our focus only to those things that make us feel smart, vindicated, and, above all, fighting mad. This is why bothsides are only mentioned when the right is criticized - because it would otherwise be in the "neither direction" of everyone agreeing it is wrong. Seeing the very real pursuit of global fascism by the right is hard to ignore but bothsides it with any imaginary fascism of the left and it gets way easier to ignore really fast..

You must have me confused with yourself where everything "not good" is "both sides." Whereas I am well aware both sides have faults but I'm not so naive that I'm going to say that means it is even. Putting two pennies on one side of a scale and 100 pennies on the other doesn't mean it is even because "bothsides" have pennies. You have to think, not just indulge in the satisfaction of putting everything on the same box.

it's indeed very naive to believe that votes change anything. i don't know how your democracy works. but in our german democracy it works like this: you vote for whatever party candidate you think is best. be it right, left or center (we have more options than just "left and right", which makes our political parties far more different from each other as they can ever afford to be in just a 2 party system but that goes too far into game theory and political science). the point i'm trying to make here is that whatever representative that we voted for is bound by nothing to what they promised when you gave them the vote. so they can litterally do whatever the fuck they want after you voted.

i'm assuming it's the same in your political system. and that's why i'm saying whether you vote or not doesn't matter. cause what informs policy decisions is oligarchs who can spend the most on lobby work. what "the people want" only matters in the times when the terms are changing and a new face is set on the flag of the shit boat they call "democracy".

That being said, I know a couple of trans people (a man and a woman) who are cool. They are low profile and aren't pushing an agenda. I have no problem with them at all and treat them the way they want to be treated.

But when a "trans-woman" thinks he is an actual woman and expects society to treat him as such when it comes to competing against women, I vehemently disagree.

I oppose gender affirming care and I strongly oppose any "transitioning" treatments for minors.

I oppose anti-discrimination laws or rules that penalize using "improper" pronouns or calling a trans-woman a man or a trans-man a woman if they obviously are not. Like a 6'4" dude in a coffee shop throwing a hissy fit for being called sir.

Yes, they should. The amount of hatred and violence that they deal with is unbelievable! No one should be discriminated, beaten up or killed just for being trans. That is unacceptable in my view.

People who have actually been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, like the ones who have been confirmed to have the brain structure that is similar to the opposite sex, should be more understood/accepted.

Not those who just said that they are trans for victimhood points nor should the children who have been victimized by the schools, parents and medical industries to transition when they never needed to and live a life of misery when they realized it was all a trick. I don't think that the problem is with the understanding. I think some trans are radical and loud, so you hear many controversies. You don't hear much the grounded trans, mostly the radical ones because they are loud. I do think that people need to not generalize all trans as radicals.
