We could live without the internet quite easily. Half of all people alive today remember the world before the internet, and half of those people were functioning adults when ISPs emerged. It wouldn’t be a difficult adjustment at all.
Take away electricity though, and MILLIONS die in the first month. Nearly the entire human race is dead within a year.
It serves almost everything we do and we take it wholly for granted. Even when the power goes down, we can fairly expect it to come back before the ice has melted in our freezers. Take it away long term and most people become completely vulnerable in ways they have never even imagined.

What I think would be devastating for this world is if the world became insect free. It would cause the rapid collapse of most terrestrial ecosystems and 80-90% of plant species would go extinct. There would be widespread famine.

You aren’t ready for that. Nobody but the “crazy” preppers are prepared for that. There’s a reason that privately owned generation plants have been permitted military grade weapons and armor for protecting their operations. It is absolutely fundamental to life as we know it. When people stop seeing each other as human and start operating only from ego, fear, or power that’s when damage becomes irreversible.
