Yes—and I learned from it.
In high school, I sometimes “helped” friends by practically doing their homework. It felt kind and harmless then, but it backfired:
- They didn’t build the skills they needed.
- I ended up stressed and occasionally blamed if the work wasn’t perfect.
Later, as a teacher and advisor, I shifted: I’ll explain, give examples, check drafts, even role-play tough problems—but I won’t do the work.
If you’re tempted, focus on teaching them how, not doing it for them.
