What are we really losing with Mamdani’s plans for NYC?

New York City is known for a lot of things. The Statue of Liberty and its perception as a gateway to the American Dream. An epicenter of culture, arts and entertainment. Great food and adventures of all kinds. A global hub for business and finance.
Mayor Mamdani is actively running NYC into the ground. What happens to all of those things when he and his cronies get their way? Do they vanish without a trace, or can they be hosted elsewhere? If the latter, where might they end up and will it be the same?
Will the fall of NYC rival the fall of Rome? How much progress will be lost, and how will humanity suffer? Will we be studying NYC in a thousand years the way we study once great ancient cities of the past?

Or is this just another forgettable moment in time?

I don't know, nyc is nyc. It will never be a "safe" city and keep it's soul. If any commie is gonna shoot their shot. I don't think he's the worst guy in the world to try it. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I don't expect it to end well but I'm interested to see what happens and if any city in the world can handle this test it's that one

Mamdani and CNN are trying to paint the terrorists who tried to assassinate cops and protesters as innocent bystanders and blame the protesters who were attacked for the crimes committed against themselves. That’s a dangerous brand of hate and complicity.
Contrary to popular myth, communism isn’t intrinsically tied to violence and oppression. There are plenty of “commies” who don’t condone violence and terrorism.
Mamdani is wicked. Plain and simple.

I'm a native new yorker. I really hate it when people say NYC is just about the arts, entertainment, statue of liberty, capitalism.

Realize that most of the people here are lower or middle class, just trying our best to make ends meet. Worrying about prices in grocery stores, working multiple jobs to make ends meet, not watching broadway or visiting the statue of liberty or making a shit ton of money as VP at chase bank.

They moved London Bridge to Arizona. We can move the statue of liberty to Miami. New York has already been replaced as the financial capital of the world. The museums and theater district can be moved to a more citizen friendly state with not much fanfare. I think Broadway in Nashville would be a good fit.

He’s literally condoning terrorist attacks in NYC. If the federal government hadn’t gotten involved, Mamdani would have seen to it that the protesters outside his mansion would have gone to prison for the crimes of the terrorists who attacked them. If you don’t have a problem with that, then there is something terribly wrong with you.
