What will happen in New York City when it runs out of money during the Mamdani regime?

Zoltan Mamdani has just been elected mayor. He has doubled down on his agenda which includes government funded (NOT FREE!) child care, government funded bus and train rides, government run grocery stores, defunding the police, sending social workers instead of cops to violent crimes, closing Rikers island, and he vows to fight ICE and President Trump's effort to deport illegal aliens.

The commissioner of the NYFD has already resigned and many cops have already started the put their papers in to retire. The major financial companies have either already left or else they are packing their bags. There are almost as many workers in the financial sector that work in Dallas than are working in New York City. Houses are already going on the market and realtors in Florida and the Carolinas are reporting a lot of interest from people moving to more citizen friendly states.

President Trump has already said that most federal funding will be cut since it is a sanctuary city. They are going to run out of money within a year.

The only thing that Mayor Mamdani can do to keep the city afloat after the tax revenues plummet and federal finding dries up. He will sell the Statue of Liberty, He will take advantage of the favorable price for copper scrap metal.

If New York "runs out of money" then you can for certain call the USA a ponzi scheme posing as a country.

When talking about government policies, "free" always means taxpayer funded. You must be a retard to not understand that. As it's the people paying the taxes, it should be them, more than the tax dodging corporations, getting the benefit.

Child care is government subsidized in EVERY country - USA is no different. The only difference is that the USA likes to pay these overfunded corporate care providers more from the taxpayer - for no real reason other than they voted for the government, usually.

Free travel passes, work in nearly every place they are implemented. From the UK to the Nordic states, and Europe. The USA has shitty infrastructure and most likely it's why these corporations don't want to get exposed.

Defunding the US police is a step in the right direction. You've got US cops being "trained" in something like 2 months - with zero qualifications. Yet you expect these glorified bandits with a badge to do the work of security, social worker, hostage negotiator, enforcer, detective.. and more. Taking a lot of these jobs out of police hands and putting them into specialised units instead - is the right thing to do. You are eight times more likely to be killed by a US cop than a terrorist. That is not a good statistic to have in any country.

As for the ICE gestapo - you ought to hang your head in shame, as something like 80% of the people they catch, have no case to answer. But ICE breaks the law anyway.

About a year and a half ago, reports were coming out about New York’s police crisis, resulting from data from the previous year. It’s WAY too soon to suggest that police officers retiring in numbers is driven by recent election results as opposed to part of a longer running trend that we’ve recognized for years.
Hopefully, as Drumpf enforces his promise to cut New York off, there will be no more federal law enforcement presence there. When the criminals travel to neighboring cities and states because their target pool has dwindled, catch them there. Federal charges will apply because it’s easily argued that leaving one state for the purpose of committing a crime is a compounding offense.
I’m most worried about the law abiding citizens who can’t afford to flee. New York is about to become a border issue, with all the people trying to escape to safer and more prosperous areas. Unfortunately, most of the idiots who supported Mamdani can afford to leave and go poison other communities with their ignorance and hatred at the polling stations.
We still have to see if it sticks. There have been allegations that he garnered votes from non-citizens who might not even be in the country. That investigation has to pan out or not before we get to wrapped up in the ‘what ifs’.

The people waiting for free stuff are going to destroy the city, and the news media and the universities and Hollywood and Silicon Valley are going to say how great they are (but those Hollywood and Silicon Valley billionaires aren't going to give one dime of their money toward the free stuff, they'll leave that to the middle class who are barely making it as it is).
