Is it rude to order a full meal at a drive through right before closing?

I work at mcdonald's. I work the closing shift, so there are only 2 of us in the kitchen from 11pm when the lobby closes to 12am when we close the drive through. So last night were were cleaning up, and breaking down the kitchen, when a guy shows up in the drive through 5, maybe 3 minutes before closing. He order something like a 20 piece nuggets. 2 mcchickens, some drinks, and fries. We had to put nuggets and and mcchickens in the fryers because like I said, we were cleaning up, and didn't have any of it ready. My co worker was visibly pissed. So was i, but I realized we weren't technically closed, and it was our job. The guy ended up giving my co worker a tip, so that was nice. I was still a little pissed though. So was ot rude to show up minutes before closing?

I used to work at Burger King, and I really only hated it when the customer would order some ungodly amount of food, or something incredibly complicated.

Nuggets and fries? Meh, no big deal. Those can cook on their own for a few minutes while I was cleaning something else, since they were basically just drop in the fryer and ignore.

It was the people that would order like 10 Whoppers, or 5 Chicken sandwhiches, 5 Fish sandwhiches, and 5 chocolate shakes that would piss me off.

Like, we already put most of the condiments away, and had just enough left for a burger or two, and now we basically have to set everything up again, cook more burgers/chicken/fish, assemble your fucking sandwhiches, and put the shake machine back together all cause your fat ass couldn't have been hungry an hour ago? 🤬

I can totally understand how frustrating that would be. The customer probably didn't realize how much work it would be to get the cookware started again though. I wonder if there is a way to advertise to not order big meals right before closing.

If you're open, you're open. It's not rude to try to still order something, and it's also not rude to kindly inform the guest that it's but possible anymore.

Also be aware that people don't know when you start cleaning up. The closing time could be last order and then you start cleaning, or it could mean doors locked and lights off everything finished.

It’s not rude in the strict sense: if you’re open, customers are entitled to order a normal meal, not just “small items.” That’s part of the job and scheduling responsibility is on management, not customers.
