I never really had a concept of any dream job. But what I'm doing now suits me just fine. I'm loving it. I consult for investment banks, private equity, and hedge funds, plus a few manufacturing clients on due diligence for deals (buying and selling companies) as well as operational improvements post deal to enhance return on investment around some exit strategy involving strategic or financial buyers.

It's always fun or interesting puzzles. Clients only find me through personal referrals. So I do zero marketing. I can choose who I work with. And how much I take on. Therefore I control my own calendar and free time to a large extent. And no one has much leverage over me. And the money is ummm... very good. Close enough to perfect for me.

My dream job would be working as a digital psychologist or psychotherapist online.

That is not really possible because to get licensed you have to do a psychology residency and you also have to get licensed through hospital work which involves exposure to unpleasant smells. I am so sensitive to unpleasant smiles, I have avoided getting married because I did not think I could clean up vomit.

Yes and no. A professional studio musician. The reason I say 'studio' is that I wouldn't want to be on the road for months.

  • I’ve spent 20+ years helping people with education and careers, and I’m already very close to my dream job.

My ideal role is a mix of:
    - Coaching individuals 1:1 on career and learning strategy
    - Teaching small, motivated groups
    - Designing practical programs that help people change their lives
    - Having enough flexibility to keep learning, writing, and doing meaningful work, not just chasing titles

In essence: getting paid to think, teach, and guide people toward work that fits who they are—while still having a balanced, sane life.

My dream job is to be a full-time author.

Technically, I am already an author, but I am still very new and not well known enough to make a living from it yet. I currently have a Christian-themed urban fantasy series with a prequel novella serving as Book 1 and a full-length novel as Book 2.

The series follows Pastor Jaydon Parable, who channels his unwavering faith in God through the Ring of Solomon to combat demons and supernatural creatures in Detroit.

Since I’m also going to be an uncle soon, I’d like to write children’s books someday too. I haven’t decided exactly what they’ll be about yet, or who would do the illustrations, but it’s something I’m interested in exploring.

So yes, author is the dream job. I’m already on that path. I’m just not at the point yet where book sales can fully support me.

The whole idea of a dream job is a fantasy, an oxymoron. Work is a task. You can be good at it or not. Living the dream means having enough money to not work, unless you are the.001% that has a job that does not seem like work.

I like my job. My dream would be that a company makes better use of my job and provides cleaner data...

I wouldn't mind being a Judge though. Analysing legal rules instead of engineering processes would be fun.

    1. A freelance writer
    2. Delivering papers or magazines to stores if I ended up liking it. It's one day and you use your own car.
