I'm not ashamed to admit that yes I've taken a couple free, online parenting classes and currently have 3 parenting books. One of them was indeed written by a clinical professor of psychiatry, Dr. Daniel J. Siegel (the No Drama Discipline book).
I want to learn more and find it helpful to apply new concepts. I've been seeing too many comments on social medias about how parents didn't need any books nor classes back then, how young people were better, how things have gotten worse ever since more parents are raising kids with psychology books and new concepts, etc. Why? What's wrong with using books, online tutorials and Internet as guide?
I'll be soon visiting my own psychologist too to update her about my case (I took sessions when I was single, childless in my 30's and struggling... now I'm married and have a son) and my parenting concepts. I feel she has helped me several years back. I really did needed it at some point. I always hear insults online about those claimed to have been raised harsh and no drama and never needed to see any psychologists and that we're just snowflakes. I needed it at that time and found it helpful.
