I started out new and usually have a lot of work everyday. Sometimes i wake up early just to get a head start. Sonetimes it will take me longer and then i will be swarmed with messages on status and finish asap from different people. Then i looked at tasks assigned to other new hires and barely seems like 50% i do and most of it is careless lacking any detail or blank. There is this one girl in her late 30s and she usually has little work to none and then she asks me why i work so hard? Then she walks around the room collecting gossip. Yet they keep giving me more even though they get intense when i take more time.

You’re likely experiencing a mix of three things I’ve seen often as a manager:
1. You look competent. New, detail‑oriented, responsive people quickly become the “go‑to” workhorses. Management piles on without noticing the load.
2. No clear workload standards. If there’s no visible metric, quieter or less‑detailed colleagues slide by.
3. You’re not setting boundaries. Hard work is good, but unspoken limits invite overload.
What I’d do:
- Calmly ask your manager to review your task list vs. other new hires.
- Frame it as: “I want to maintain quality; to do that, I need clearer priorities and a sustainable workload.”
