I watch YouTube videos of Harvard lectures and one thing that surprises me is that a lot of fat people appear in their videos, I believe Harvard will allow morbidly obese people in their school if they are exceptionally intelligent and successful. I’ve met rude guys with accents who have humanity degrees from Harvard in some of my classes at the University of Toronto, one was my TA.

My new job is business operations assistant
And so I sit next to my boss (head of business operations - HR)

And each section has 4 seats

So on my left it would be 1 exective director
And the other seat is the other executive director


So i sit with important people (hr and 2 directors)

Does this mean my job is important?

I started my new job a week ago
But lately my new boss keeps asking:
"How do u feel?"
"Is this job what u really wanna do?"
"Is there any questions u want to ask, let me know please"
"Are u ok with your whole job role and descriptions?:

Why does she keep asking me those questions the last few days?

Hi everyone. So I am three months into my new job, and I am a bit of a "floater" meaning that I float between two apartments (Accounting and Estimating)

I am not from an accounting background so of course I made a few mistakes which were quite annoying, but I am not from an accounting background, but I do work hard which people see and I take initiative.

I had a three-month review with my director and he said that he likes having me here and there I am doing well.

Well today, I saw an email which I wasn't supposed to see and my director asked for a meeting with an admin person and my accountant superior and in the email, it had a few dot points for discussion and the last bit of the email read the following:

"I would like to discuss (my name) and her helping out with accounts. Is it working? Is it not working? Is it something that (my colleague) can pick up because she is looking for more work? If it isn't working I will look for an alternative solution"

Last Thursday, he did mention that he is going to look at making me focus more on estimating rather than accounts in a few months.

I felt that the email sounded ominous. Am I paranoid?

So, I work at a childcare Center and every lunch hour I video chat my boyfriend with headphones on. People were complaining about it (sometimes I didn’t have headphones - which that is understandable -, but it is still a problem with my staff and they never came to me, they just went straight to the supervisor). Anyways, I tried going into different rooms, including in between the front doors (which I’ve done before and was never a problem then). Now my supervisor has told me that if I wanna talk to my boyfriend, I have to do it in the laundry room. Is this considered discrimination? I legit wanna know, I’m not tryna whine about my situation.

I've gone on a date with a guy who claims he is an engineer. He doesn't wear the ring.

If I compare to my uncle & some friends - all engineers - they wear the ring.

Do you have a degree from college/university?

If yes which one and if not why and do you regret it not having one?

I’ve been in FA almost a yr & it’s a bit much I’m kind of miserable. I get good feedback (for the most part) from mgmt but I just don’t feel as acclimated as I should. I was offered a position working as a specialist for the Proof of Graduation team. I’d request proof of HS completion from students, same pay but approaching my annual raise soon anyway. My boss was a Mgr for the department before & said my counterparts are nice but there was too much drama from a management perspective. She said the job itself can be monotonous but better hours (no weekends) & wouldn’t be as busy likely. I’m looking for employment elsewhere too, I haven’t received the offer letter yet the position wouldn’t begin until March.

I've always wanted to learn Russian because I think it's a beautiful language and also widely spread and me being from Czech Republic could make it slightly easier and not so foreign (Czech language is also one of the Slav languages).

I know I may worry for nothing but current events, such as the conflict of Ukraine VS Russia, make me uncertain a little about me going for this... even my parents call me silly for wanting to learn Russian in this age.

Do you think it's a bad idea?
Do I have a chance of learning at least basics and cyrillic alphabet on my own?

I've tried to learn Russian years back when I was still at school but I gave it up in the end. I still own a textbook and workbook, I think I do at least lol

I don’t feel comfortable sharing this with many people so I just want insight, no sarcastic answers.

I’ve worked in financial aid for almost a yr, prior to this I worked in academic advising at another school for 2 years. This job is remote & will stay remote, the last position wasn’t & I hated it bc of management, didn’t get along with some staff & was unhappy. This role is remote but so far I get along with my team & like my boss, I have times where I feel overwhelmed & as if I’m not good at my job bc FA can be a bit much. My boss gives good feedback but I compare myself to others & second guess my work ethic.

I’ve interviewed for 3 roles so far, after my 2nd interview I was offered role as a Proof of graduation specialist. My boss was a Mgr for this dept before & said the job itself can be monotonous, the team was nice she just didn’t like managing it bc of the drama it came with. I was offered a position, same pay, wouldn’t start till March & the offer letter won’t be sent until next wk anyway so I have time to think about it.

I just interviewed for another job in the same company but academic services, the pay is a lot higher & I think I’ll be hearing back next wk. I like my current job but it’s call center like, can be busy & I want to get more experience in higher education. Sometimes it just doesn’t feel like a good fit but I’m worried it’ll come across as job hopping, I won’t be good at it & I won’t have the same type of mgmt/team dynamic I have now. If I get the academic services job that triumphs all no expectations though, I’m asking more about if I don’t get it & I have to choose between the offer I just got & my current role. I feel like I’m underpaid too with my current rate, which won’t change if I have to accept the offer I just got.

I prefer working mainly with women, but I feel as though most people prefer working with men.
