How often do you come across words you’re unfamiliar with and resort to looking it up?

I really thought this was just for the online one. Comments surprised me.
I had a pocket one, my dad FLUNG at me and encouraged me to keep. I read some. It’s not the most thrilling book to read… “sorry dad!” 😰😂
I use the online one whenever I see something new (so that varies)
and whenever I rarely engage a profound conversation- and I JUST DONT KNOW, but sometimes I just feel like I’ll think up a word I’ve NEVER used, and in my gut it feels right, and I’ll then google it- turns out it was the perfect word and meant exactly what I had imagined.
That was some weird luck for sure. I think some words I felt were just appropriate, and it was a variation of a word I had known, but I wouldn’t be sure if it was even a word- again, I’d find it to be a word meaning what I had assumed. 😃👍
That would be truly rare, and that gift has died down. 🧐
Sometimes Autocorrect will give me insanely wild words, which I’ll have to check, and it can be quite fun doing so.
Just the other day, I learned about a new Greek Individual in the mythology, and it was fascinating. Some of the words I can’t even believe, are words because they will start with various letters hardly used like- [ i ] and some of them have all the odd accompaniment of letters like [ i ] with [ x ] or
[ W ] [ S ] [ X ] [ P ]
and it baffles me all the time.
Do I look up words a lot? Neh, not really.
I’ve lost the “mindfulness,” to check all the time: my spelling and those guessing words, so I’ll have a few people correct me. 🤣
Good times.
Not as often as I did before the internet came out. I still do, but mostly for medical jargon used at my job.
Fun fact- I still have a dictionary and encyclopedias at home from grade school. Old school when we had to write research papers and we didn't have the internet to "google" stuff.
Probably about once per week, usually one here when a word gets used in a way that sounds off to me. Most of the time I am right, but sometimes the question / response is correct because the word has a secondary or tertiary meaning of which I was formerly unaware. I like learning new stuff.
I'll google stuff, but most of the time I'm looking up industry specific technical jargon, and the dictionary wouldn't be much help.

Does translation dictionary count?
If so, then daily!!! Hahaha
I mix up words so often! I will start a german conversation and then 1-5 words I only know in English, so I have to look up what's the german word for it... I start answering here and I have to do the same the other way around and so on and so on...
Sometimes I just remember a word and wanna know the full meaning behind it before using
Well, I mostly do it since I started to learn English. It's been 9 months since I started. I am learning English as my third language, but I can say it's pretty easy compared to German. I don't need a dictionary to check for the words as often as I did when I was learning German.
Nearly daily I would say. Not as often in a sense of not knowing a word, but to quote a definition from the dictionary. That being said I do write for my work.
Not very often. Hardly ever, in fact, unless it's some new term that only recently popped up in popular culture, or an old word that has been given a new meaning, like "cancel", "woke", and "gender".
I'll use online dictionaries quite a lot. I like to know the etymology of words.
I use Google but maybe once a week/every 2 weeks I look up a word
Not as often. I used to look up more when I was younger. Not that I know everything now, but I haven't been looking it up that much.
I used to do that all the time now I just Google it and look for the online dictionary.
That comic cracked me up.
At least once a week; sometimes more.
I use Google in the same manner, once or thrice a week.
I haven't used a dictionary in years. That's what the internet is for
It’s called Google lol hope that helps if you can believe it
I do that a lot to make sure I'm using the word I just said correctly lmaoo
I regularly look up words online in various dictionaries. My favorites are Merriam-Webster, Wikipedia, Urban Dictionary.
I just use google 🤷🏻♀️
Just about daily
I just use Google, tbh. 😂
I don’t think we even have one
