Boyfriend says I’m not “model” pretty?

I don’t even really remember how we got into this topic but my boyfriend was talking to me and then all a sudden he goes “ you’re an 8.5 out of 10” and that’s where I stopped him and was like “ you think I’m only an 8.5” I’m not saying I’m the prettiest girl in the world but every girl wants to think their boyfriend thinks their a 10 in their eyes. I honestly got really upset. I told him to go find his 10 and that’s when he goes “ are you Angelina Jolie” and starts naming off a bunch of models/ actresses. At this point I was in disgust, how could he compare me to people like that. And then to make matters even worse he goes “ you’re a very pretty girl but you’re not that, that’s why your Instagram hasn’t blown up yet.” A little back story, I’m 22 and I’ve wanted to model since 16. I post on Instagram every so often but I don’t look at it as some Job. Anyways, now I’m feeling insecure more then I ever have before and just don’t really know how to feel. Was this a messed up thing for him to say?

Well thats kind of "whining at a high level" :P Totally independent of the level, chances are minimal that your boyfriend wanted to tell you some bad news here. 10's are usually totally different kind of people, must be unreachable. A girlfriend can never be a 10 (at least not for long). 10's are like "i have never seen such beauty in my life". This imples that once you see her twice, she is automatically a 9.5 :D

Well if he wants a woman who's "model pretty" he'll have some significant digging to do, a very decent monthly paycheck and great looks to match hers.

Pretty dumb thing to say. Be with someone who thinks your a 10 and wants to support you. Based on your photo it’s probably realistic that you could be a model and many guys would probably think you are a 10. I mean I guess 8.5 is still a compliment and he was probably being honest per his opinion but the fact he doesn’t support you vision says a lot about your relationship or lack there of
