I saw this recent tiktok video of a teacher expressing how increasingly she's noticed the kids not able to really comprehend what they are reading or have any basic critical thinking skills. It's a bit of an eye opener.

Anyways to any parents on this site do your kids read books?

I am curious as to how users on a Q&A/debate/opinion forum site such as this view the agency of the human mind. I’m a physician myself and am starting a deeper scientific study in a few months on such agency, so I wanted to get views from a smaller sample size on a site like this first.

I'm sure inflation is a valid worry amd not a "Dem Hoax". But I also think its used by corporations to increase prices and keep salaries low.

I work 50 hours a week and I work all weekend working on classic cars I have sitting in the yard, or doing yard work or cleaning the house. I feel like if I take one little break my life could fall apart so I don't.

I think people will become more productive if they start to spank themsleves throughout the day. Not as a punishment, but as a reminder to stay in the right state of consciousness. Because most humans tend get stuck in the cycle of pursuit of pleasure and avoidance of pain and believe that it's the only motivator for any actions.

Break the cycle by spanking yourself, your mind will flip the switch and achieve that 'equanimity of soul necessary for genuine, motive-driven action.'

It's the sovereign act of a truly free will, indifferent to the demands of the instinctual body, which finally realizes: "Wait, I have agency beyond just chasing cookies or running from bees!"

Only then can you put down the phone and do the dishes.

I don't believe it at all. We will have to work until we die.

I have no problem with working on a holiday, but pay time and a half. Telling me that I have the day off without pay is horrible. Like who would actually want that?

I had a meeting with a university that wanted to know more about my startup, and they asked for a corporate website which I didn't have because I'm still seed stage and pre-revenue. I did consider setting up a corporate website before, but was too lazy since they're usually either blogs or e-commerce platforms. But now I guess I'm incenitivized to have one for legitimacy and to redirect third parties, so I don't need to keep explaining what my startup does or at least will intend to do.

I do recall having a WordPress account and a personal blog, and I think out of laziness and convenience I can just go for that or maybe consider Shopify. For WordPress, I can start out with a free domain and then later upgrade to paid and let them host it. I ain't gonna code a corporate website from scratch because it's less labour intensive to build a blog with no-code solutions, whereas for e-commerce too complex to build myself when Shopify is a thing. I just don't wanna keep on paying a monthly nor yearly fee just to keep the rights to the domain right now.

Should a precondition of receiving up to 6 years of free tuition and books/study materials (but not board), at any school accepting them, to be three years of military service, for 4 years tuition or four years of military service, for six years of tuition, first?

They would remain eligible for separate student bank loans for board only.
Or, they could do it online from home, with a modest stipend for residential expenses. Think in terms of https://www.wgu.edu/ or others like them. There would be an academic performance requirement, of course.

Starting military age limit maximums would be:
The minimum age is 17 with parental consent.
Marine Corps: 28 years old.
Army: 35 years old.
Naval Reserve: 39 years old.
Navy: 41 years old.
Air Force and Space Force: 42 years old.

You could begin college within 50 months after an honorable discharge.

So, if things are going South for you, this is a second chance.
