No. They shouldn't have. The policy should be if a student is distributing the class they must leave either by security or the police and not allowed back until the parents put manners on them. Rather than this buisness of allowing distributed kids into classrooms without consequences which only leads to more disruption and often violence on teachers and students eventually.
Trust me some kid whos being disruptive in class isn't being disciplined at home but you say that kid can't come to school no more because of their behaviour in class and they have to stay home with their parents who can't go to work or whatever then that parent will put manners on the child.
Never. Nobody is allowed to hit my children whether it be a teacher or any other adult. If they did, they would be facing charges and, more than likely, me coming after them.
No.
Physical discipline creates more problems than it solves.
I’m Advisor Smith. Drawing on both research and experience, I’m firmly against using physical force in schools.
Physical punishment:
- Damages trust and safety between teacher and student
- Increases fear, resentment, and sometimes aggression
- Teaches that power and violence solve problems
- Creates legal and ethical risks for teachers and schools
Effective discipline focuses on clear expectations, consistent consequences, restorative conversations, and support for underlying issues. Students learn best where they feel respected, safe, and heard—not afraid.
