This is my continuation that I had taken a break from and decided to revisit but I wanted to do a 90's mix that I could see putting together to listen to in the car. Back in the day when we still used compact discs :) and cassette players now it's just all loaded on our phones, our mini super computer. :) But here is a quick list of my 15 songs I would choose for my mix. If I were to put a song list together. This is not a best of and this is numbered in order of release date. It was fun revisiting the 90's songs to come up with my selected list for mix. Hopefully you will remember them as much as I have.
1. Baby, Baby - Amy Grant 1991
corny. poppy and upbeat :)
"Baby, baby
The stars are shining for you
And just like me I'm sure that they adore you...Stop for a minute
Baby, they're so glad you're mine, oh yeah
And ever since the day you put my heart in motion
Baby I realize that there's just no getting over you"
2. Runaway Train - Soul Asylum 1993
"Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there"
3. Two Princes - Spin Doctors 1993
"One, two, princes kneel before you
That's what I said, now
Princes, Princes who adore you
Just go ahead, now...This one, got a princely racket
That's what I said, now
Got some big seal upon his jacket
Ain't in his head, now"
4. You Gotta Be - Des'ree 1994
A music video with facts, MTV pop up video back in the day, pretty cool right :)
"You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together
All I know, all I know, love will save the day"
5. As I Lay Me Down - Sophie B. Hawkins 1995
"Now, as I lay me down to sleep
This I pray
That you will hold me dear
Though I'm far away
I'll whisper your name into the sky
And I will wake up happy"
6. Carnival- Natalie Merchant 1995
"Well, I've walked these streets
A virtual stage, it seemed to me
Makeup on their faces
Actors took their places next to me
Well, I've walked these streets
In a carnival, of sights to see
All the cheap thrill seekers vendors and the dealers
They crowded around me
Have I been blind have I been lost
Inside myself and my own mind
Hypnotized, mesmerized by what my eyes have seen?"
7. Hand In My Pocket - Alanis Morissette 1995
"I'm broke but I'm happy, I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded, I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful, baby
What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five"
8. Everyday Is A Winding Road - Sheryl Crow 1996
No lyrics here, apparently I've already shared the same post :) must have used these lyrics on another mytake..
9. To The Moon & Back - Savage Garden 1996
No lyrics here either :) I've already used them on another mytake
10. Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) - Green Day 1997
"It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life"
11. Semi-Charmed Life - Third Eye Blind 1997
"I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Good-bye"
12. Sunny Came Home - Shawn Colvin 1997
"She says days go by I don't know why
I'm walking on a wire
I close my eyes and fly out of my mind
Into the fire"
13. Lullaby - Shawn Mullins 1998
"And just before she hangs her head to cry,
I sing to her a lullaby
I sing:
Everything's gonna be all right.
Rock-a-bye, rock-a-bye.
Everything's gonna be all right.
Rock-a-bye, rock-a-bye, rock-a-bye."
14. I Could Not Ask for More Edwin McCain 1999
The song "I'll be" was a contender but this is just a little better
"Lying here with you
Listening to the rain
Smiling just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my life
I found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more"
15. I Will Remember You - Sarah McLachlan (live) 1999
Apparently the live version takes place 4 years after the original song was released in 1995 but this one was the version I was thinking of
"I will remember you, will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories"
That's all folks!
Have a happy fourth!
