Still-Alives Favorite Video Games Per Year Since I've Been Alive Part 2: 2003-2023!

Well here's the 2nd part of my list. this time from 2003 to this year! You like any of these yourself?

2003: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox)

My favorite Star Wars game that made me buy the original Xbox just to play it!

2004: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2)

After GTA III and Vice City, there came San Andreas. It's still my favorite GTA game to this day. Love the huge map.

2005: Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)

If anyone ever tells you video games cannot be art, just show them this game. Very beautiful game with epic music.

2006: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360)

Just a magical game that I could get lost in. One of the first and one of the best open world sand box type games for me.

2007: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

One of my favorite Mario games of all time with a phenomenal soundtrack.

2008: Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii)

Yup, another Smash Bros game. The one on the Wii was good for its time and I spent many hours online with it.2009: Minecraft (PC, PS4)

Yes I do love some Minecraft. I love being able to build anything i like!

2010: Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360)

A very fun Western open world game! GTA in the Wild West.

2011: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Xbox 360)

Of course Skyrim had to be on here. Spent many many hours on this one!

2012: Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii)

Very immersive RPG world with lots to explore and see! Still have yet to beat this one.

2013: Grand Theft Auto V (PS3, PS4)

Just soo much fun getting in a car and running over people. >:) A very pretty looking game too.

2014: Super Smash bros for Wii U (Wii U)

Yup! Another Smash Bros game on my list.

2015: Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS4)

Another very fun open world fantasy adventure game! Geralt was an interesting protagonist as well

2016: Final Fantasy XV (PS4)

I didn't play that many new games in 2016, but FFXV was a decent one in my opinion. The story lacked, but I dug the combat.

2017: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)

The game that got me back into Zelda, i had kinda lost interest over the years before. I bought a Switch just for it too.

2018: Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Switch)

The last Smash game so far. Look at all these characters!

2019: Resident Evil 2 Remake (PS4)

A very good remake of the original Ps1 game. That dude in the hat chases you everywhere!

2020: Ghost of Tsushima (PS4)

A game that has you play a Samurai in feudal Japan. Reminiscent of old Akira Kurosawa movies. Beautiful game.

2021: Metroid Dread (Switch)

A pleasant surprise this game came out when it did. We thought Metroid was dead. Fun game.

2022: Elden Ring (PS4, PS5)

Excellent sequel. lots more to explore than in the Breath of the Wild

A lot of good memories with GTA SA as well!

I remember that drug-dealing hippie conspiracy theorist redneck, this encounter was sooooooo much fun 😂. Especially when, at that time, I wasn't aware that this kind of profile actually exists. Facebook taught me that, and it was much less funny then.

That constant satire on US society, urban and rural, was massively thought-provoking also. So, at some level, I thought of GTA SA as edutainment.

Gameplay wise, it's also the first game where I accidentally disabled the mini map making me exploring the game much more than what was normally intended

I've had Breath of the Wild for a couple years now and I'm still figuring it out. 😭

Tbh, I don't play it as much as some of my other games, so it's kinda my own fault for not taking more time to learn. 😂

Loved both the of the super Mario galaxy's games, I loved smash bros so much still play it and both breath of the wild and years of the Kingdom were amazing they are definitely up there in my top 5 Zelda games

So many games I like here. Elden ring was one of those "happy to be of this generation" moments when it was launch day.

Yes i like how it launched without any microtransactions or dlc. Ot was a finished game and did amazingly well.

Yes but it truly is additional content where as others package things that should have been in the original release as dlc. Shady stuff and a practice that should die quite frankly.

So Elden Ring is a breath of fresh air. Also Baldurs Gate III is another good one. You should try that out

Yes its just really well made and they really took the time to make it the best they can. it may just be hands down the best D&D video game ever made now.

Keep an eye out for Larian Studios who made the game too. they have proven themselves to be a fantastic games studio from Belgium to ;)
