Who is the best rapper in the world?

So... complicated relationship with Eminem. I was in on him early, I heard about him on a college radio station in I believe late 1997. I didn’t know he was a white guy for like another year and a half lmao. So at THAT time, I’d have told you without hesitation that he was my favorite rapper, and I hyped him to anyone who would listen, although I’d say maybe 4 out of 10 people liked him. (Some of the same naysayers were all in when he came out commercially though🙄 I did get apologies from a few though, and admissions that he’s legendary, that was fucking satisfying lmao) His first album finally dropped, and I loved it... sort of. Lyrically, he was everything I had ever been looking for in a rapper: a young angry dude with a fucked up sense of humor and a kind of drugged out flow that said wicked clever, but wicked off-the-wall, and often funny, shit... and he did not give a fuck if you liked it or not. That could not have been more up teenage WhiteSteve’s alley lmfao.
The thing with Em is, I never really loved his songs, like as a song. Not NEVER, but I guess I was more accustomed that time to either West Coast gangsta vibes, or East Coast New York boom-bap flavor. There just weren’t a lot of songs that I thought were legit bangers. All that Real Slim Shady type stuff isn’t for me, although I still appreciate the lyrics. But a hundred worse rappers were making songs with what I felt were better beats, better overall vibe. I guess I just felt like a lot of mainstream Em’s songs were kind of just vehicles for him to goof off on a track... he’d still murder it, but the songs are just a little too, I don’t know... silly? I always thought a lot of his best stuff came on guest verses on other rappers’ songs, just by way of him being on a more well-constructed song, for my tastes anyway. First two albums were still great, third was pretty good but now felt REALLY commercialized, yet lyrically sound and impressive as always. My favorite Em will always be late 90s, pre-hype Em, when he was just a backpacker saying twisted shit for shock value.
I definitely respect Wayne as an honorable mention, I didn’t warm up to his style til The Carter I, but I mean, that dude can spit. His mixtapes might be better than his albums. I actually saw him live about two weeks ago, pretty good show, but definitely more focused on his commercial stuff. Obligatory Biggie and Pac mentions, but I do feel I need to point out, with all due respect to both... as much as their music has held up, and I think it’s safe to retrospectively have them in the conversation, I was in high school when both were popular and when they died. I was as into music as I’ve ever been then, had all kinds of time to keep up on it. Both were considered greats... but I never heard anyone call either of them the best of all time until they were dead. I might have been more impressed with Nas at that time, plus Jay dropped Reasonable Doubt in like ‘96, and both of those were classics. In fairness, I’m from the East Coast, so 2Pac wasn’t as big as he probably was out west, and Biggie only had one album, that was an instant classic, and we were all just waiting on the sophomore effort, which was very solid, but he unfortunately didn’t survive to see its release. So I hold both in high esteem, but I feel like there’s an emotional response involved with a lot of people’s opinions on them, plus it’s kind of a faux pas to speak anything but glowingly of them.
There are actually a ton of really good lyricists out there, too many to name, but that will always be my deciding criteria in the GOAT conversation. So for that reason, I have to give it to Eminem. Nobody has ever done it like him, before or since. Most rappers rhyme words, he rhymes entire sentences. Just fucking ridiculous. But OG Em is best👍
Second time I ever heard Em, still one of my all time favorite verses
That second verse tho😱😱😱
I like Post Malone
I've been fuckin hoes and poppin pillies
man I feel just like a rockstaaaarr
EYYY all my brothers got that gas
and they always be smokin like a rastaaa
Fuckin with me, call up on a Uzi
And show up, man, them the shottas
When my homies pull up on your block
They make that thing go grrra-ta-ta-ta
:D :D
Catch the MHO
its all guns and hoes... i prefer rap that has moved on from that... the asker said rap doesn't need to be American yet seems to sign up to that very genre... have you picked up on stuff like this yet? bit more intellectual than pop rap

Nas may possibly be my favorite? That's a tough question though. I saw DMX live and it was one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. Not saying he's the greatest rapper. It was a small venue and how hype the crowd was gave me chills. Ruff Ryder
Nas is one of the best
I'm always listening to Tupac, so he's number 1 on my list.
I'll give you 5
1. Tupac
2. Nipsey Hussle
3. Da Brat
4. Camp lo
5. Snoop dogg
Good now your talkin your getting close but he's not the best
@bklynbadboy1 He's the best on my list, lol. I'd say most of the old school rappers sound better than the the generation of rappers.
So true
@bklynbadboy1 Sorry, I meant to put that they sound better than the new generation of rappers.
I agree
With my limited knowledge on the topic, I’d say Eminem.

If you don't like it shut up and keep you comments to yourself like damn are you a child or are you just judging because. You wanna play the B. S race card game like yo are you serious right now. Nobody told you to leave a comment suck ass screamo faggets and not all rapper talk about hurting people so befor y'all start judging and making some suck ass comments. What's your favorite music artist it doesn't matter what or who it is I listen to mix of songs like RAP, R&B, Soul, a little bit of Jazz, Gospal with more rythem to it and some old skool. but this generation RAP game sucks lol just being honest the reason why I say that is because this generation knows nothing about respect and caring for others they're just spoiled and not happy point blank it's not that hard to figure out but it's. Just depression with this generation nobody knows when to be serious they think it's just fun and game and that one thing which is babies having babies at a young age it's not cute what so ever I'm just being real so yo drop y'all favorite music artist and see who would react about it. like I said not all rapper talk about hurting people they wanna get there shit right to like everybody else that's been struggling in life.
The one and only 2Pac Shakur. In my opinion, none of of the rappers on that poster comes close to 2Pac's rhymes.
2Pac rhymes are so dope. Listen to his rhymes—they are imbued with skills that no other rapper has ever done.
Its a tie between Pac and big. Jay-Z and nas 3rd and forth respectively although ether by nas may give him 3rd automatically over Jay.. However eminem, big punisher, jadakiss, 50cent, big L, mos def and in my opinion even fat joe and AZ are contenders in this theoretical debate. Joe budden, lloyd banks, twista and busta rhymes get honorable mentions in my book. This is a fairly accurate concensus in the hip hop community more or less , however being as nobody listens to hip hop nearly as much these days... compared to the 90s, I maybe dated and need to take another look at more modern artists like Kendrick lamar or... maybe hip hop really is kina dying or at least past its golden age
All I know, is that in EVERY track, with multiple rappers, and busts rhymes together, Busta ALWAYS kills it.
And I would say the same for Eminem. But any track with me and busta, busta kills it and I don’t care about else verse.
Busta is underrated is all I’m saying. I’m glad you mentioned him.
Otherwise I like your comment. I’m also glad you mentioned Lloyd banks. I’m surprised to see his name but I agree he’s great.
What the fuckkk is that
Oh sure
The king himself.
Aesop Rock no contest. He has the most unique style, the most unique word uses of any rapper by a substantial margin (scientifically proven no less (far more then Eminem, Jay z etc.), and is very interesting with how he uses metaphors and symbolism in his songs.
Totally agree. He is among the few rappers I can stand. Most rap is utter shite. Aesop Rock is genius.
@InTimoreDei Same. Him, atmosphere and a couple of others are the only rappers I will listen to because they are the only ones who rap, rap about something that matters and do so with skill and intelligence. Most everything else is just awful (and this newest generation is even worse).
Atmosphere is another one I like. Barely anybody knows about him which is sad. Instead they are into all this terrible mainstream stuff.
@InTimoreDei I know, I don't understand it at all. They actually rap about interesting things, they are not rapping about money or women but about things that matter and people ignore them. its weird. Though greatness is rarely appreciated in its time so maybe that has something to do with it, both are fantastic (and I grew up with rock and heavy metal but even I appreciate what they do. They elevate it to an art.).
I’m torn. It might be little Wayne to be honest.
And I used to be a little Wayne hater. I used to think he was trash.
But now I’m thinking he might be the best.
But I know that a lot of people would really disagree with me and not long ago I would have as well.
But I met a bunch of hardcore hip hop heads. And they convinced me to give little Wayne a real shot and listen to him for real and yea I dunno he’s a fucking beast lol.
Honestly I haven't found one that really stands out for quality... Just a bunch that have one or two good raps with catchy beats and not much else.
I don't think his rap is exceptionally good, but Eminem definitely stands out compared to other modern rappers.
I don't listen to rap much. I haven't heard enough rappers to say who the best ones are, I'll probably end up looking stupid 😅. But I really like Mike Shinoda's raps. His raps as a solo artist, as part of Linkin Park and Fort Minor are among my favorites in music in general. Again, I cannot say he's the best rapper even in my opinion because I haven't heard enough songs that are totally in the rap genre.
you have to mention eminem because he opened up the whole genre and is technically very skilled but my true favourite would have to be either k rino or on this side of the pond, akala
Hands down Eminem. He writes to inspire.
Al Yankovic!
Damn straight! Technologicaly impaired foo!
Not in the American history but... Suga from BTS. This is my opinion.
When was bts considered rap? Not trying to say your wrong but kpop and rap are 2 different things
And did I mention the rest of BTS? No. Just Suga. And I know K-Pop and Rap are two different things. But in South Korea, it is indeed considered as Rap and not just K-Pop. More like K-Rap but I know it’s probably not a thing.
Hm interesting. Never really been interested into kpop because i just mostly never understood it lol but it just wasn't my thing really. But you learn something new everyday.
Beastie boys.
On this subject try checking out rap from other languages
This is the whole world after all
Lol Wayne is my favorite I don't if that makes him the best but yeah lol🌸💓🌸
Eminem. Rappers today just talk words but eminem turns words to music.
Lol not even close
@bklynbadboy1 shooo
Lol!!!
@bklynbadboy1 I'm not here to debate im here to give my opinion to @thegirlsaskguysgirl.
I feel you 100% percent but your not the only one with an opinion.
@bklynbadboy1 I'm not but i'm one of the few who doesn't go your wrong and force it on other people.
Michael Wright. He and his Gang got rap on the map. You all might better know him as "Wonder Mike" of The Sugarhill Gang.
it really bothers some people that culture doesn't have a summit and there's no trophy to win except for the thing you created in the first place.
this isn't my answer but its in a sidebar and appropriate

I don't know I might say Big Daddy Kane or ODB honestly. One to really start it all off right, the other to change it like a wizard high on space dust. Angel Haze or Whack are probably my fav female rappers rn; though Haze is still growing in like a pupae phase as an artist. Her rap skills are overpowered but her solo work needs tracks and such
a challenger approaches. . .

There are a lot of great rappers out there and some underground and unnoticed who stay humble. But my favorite is probably Wu-Tang Clan
I hate rap!! It doesn't take any musical talent! Just takes a good memory
You should record yourself dropping some bars then.
New king of the world for me is Amine. I think I spelled that right. Best flow, great lyrics, hooks, and an absolutely insane stage presence.
Zack Hemsey Just wait for it, or skip to 4:08
This pastor and his wife:

Tupac👑❤️❤️❤️ Nipsey did great things for his community too 🙏🏽
I don't know of any rappers outside of America except Spanish rappers. Rap originated from the African American community in New York. It spread world wide. I think the best rappers are those who speak the truth about society. The white people culturally appropriated rap music. Tupac and along with some others who rapped about their communities are known worldwide to be legendary throughout history. Nipsey Hussle was a great loss in our LA community. Rap is more than spitting rhymes for many marginalized communities in America. It's about advocating for human rights💯♥️♥️
The one with highest words per second count while maintaining clear speech and least badmouthing.
It's still Eminem. He's yet to be outdone
Lmao! Not even close but good try
I thought we were talking about the best rapper alive, not the best ever
Okay good point
NO ONE!!! That's like asking: who's the best comatose patient in the world!!!
I like how you said world because there are some good ones outside of the U. S. There are some strong rappers coming out of Korea.
There is a tie for best ever 2pac and Biggie and Big Pun in second place
Yo honestly it is a 3 way tie between 2pac, Biggie and Big Pun.
This guy
https://youtu.be/fUrhqCkYwpsBetween Tupac and Biggie. Eminem too. TLC and Nelly. Jay-Z..
