Home invasion is pretty simple, your goal is to break in when no one else is there or it's aggravated burglary and your chances of being caught rise exponentially. If you carry it out in this fashion, your only real chance of being caught is a nosy neighbor, no one talks to their neighbors anymore, or when you sell it. That was their goal, empty house. But NOOO! Someone forgot their kid, didn't check the car, didn't check at the airport terminal, didn't check on the plane, took a while to realize it at the hotel, and then didn't even call a goddamn babysitter? Honestly, I think the bandits are heros, the parents must have been selling crack to 1. afford a house that large, 2. not want anyone else inside even if their kids starves, and 3. be targeted by well known home invaders in chicago. Without the bandits McCully Culkin would have just burned the house down, tried masturbating with an inhouse vacuum, starved, gotten hypothermia in the snow, or any of the other fun stuff kids do with a sudden change of environment and no adults.

I think Kevin's family is clearly more badly behaved than Kevin. Kevin is an 8-year-old boy who had a tantrum in part because he was (understandably) feeling neglected.

Kevin's family:

-Treated him consistently badly during the night before they left for Paris. Putting him down, making him feel incompetent and unimportant. You got the clear impression that they treated him this way a lot. Kevin's parents didn't seem that bad, but they clearly tolerated this behavior from their family.

-At one point, Kevin's (asshole) uncle calls him "a jerk" and Kevin's parents don't stand up for him.

Then Kevin's parents forget to bring him on the trip and leave him at home. I really don't see how that's possible.

Right, pretty fucking shitty parents. Sure I get the whole siblings not getting along thing. But an asshole uncle bulling a fucking kid? And then the parents just shrugging that shit off?

I'd still say the wet bandits. Especially Harry, he really is out to get people's money. He is not down on his luck or needs the money for a reason he just wants to rob and hurt anyone that stands in his way. But I agree the parents are pretty bad for forgetting their kid but what about buzz! He is a little s#it stain :) putting all the blame on Kevin, he's almost as bad as the bandits

I know this is tribute to the first movie, but you should put Tim Curry on the list. Maybe i missed it, but for some reason he has it out for Kevin soon as he walks through the door, and its never really explained Out of everyone on there He tells the bellhop to find out everything he can. No elaboration or anything. He just goes along. Almost if the hotel is conspiring. Do they do all to all the guests?

They made a mistake by not counting heads properly… then they proceeded to make a shit load of other mistakes that in all likelihood could have caused the death of a child… yeah. That is criminal negligence. They seriously didn’t even bother calling the cops or anything for a full 3 days. And yeah, Buzz was his older brother. That’s why Keven could go upstairs to go through his stuff.

Which movie are we talking about? Because in number 2, they did count heads properly, but Kevin got lost in the sea of people in the airport while the family was running to catch their flight. I will admit, if this happened in reality, 2x losing your same child can be grounds for some repercussion. Either way, I don’t think this would classify as criminal negligence. Criminal negligence would be something like DUI, leaving your child in a super hot car, leaving a loaded gun in your kid’s room and then he accidentally shoots someone with it, etc.
