Anybody a fan of the BioShock games?

Kinda. I'm a likely candidate for it, but I'd already played the System Shocks before the first Bio even came out, so...
Bioshock was basically System Shock 2 with most of the meaningful gameplay choices, the entire inventory system, and all the RPG elements gone. I'd say that none of the characters in Bio can match the power and menace of Shodan, but few characters ANYWHERE can do that, so that's not really a fair criticism. Bio had a more interesting setting that was even more atmospheric than either of the System games; it's just a pity the gameplay couldn't keep up and do more with it. A big part of that, too, is the differing moods. Here are two things you might not know:
1. there's a point in the first System Shock where you need to pass a door lock sealed with a retinal scanner (these were all over fiction in the 90's; I guess human eyes worked differently back then), but you don't have access. So you need to find and retrieve the head of someone who does. And if, like me the first time I played, you've moved some bodies around and don't know where the bodies of those with access are, you're reduced to grabbing every severed head you can find, and tossing those that don't have access in a big pile by the locked door, desperately hoping one will be able to get you in before the invisible mutants bite your legs off. This is in a game that is MUCH less creepy than its sequel.
2. There's a point in System Shock 2 where you see a ghostly vision of a woman strapped on to a gurney being approached by a surgeon who intends to forcibly implant her with mind-controlling cybernetics. She's struggling against her restraints and begging him not to do this, but he hushes her, saying "Soon you'll be mother to them all". Then he grabs a surgical tool, and just before he starts cutting, the vision stops. Ending it there is probably the single most merciful thing that System Shock 2 does.
Bioshock wanted to show you grandeur and decay, rather than simply horrify you and deplete your underwear budget, so it gets points for that. And while the research camera didn't make a whole lot of logical sense, it makes for a more interesting gameplay element than its predecessor had.
I won't spoil anything about Infinite, but I'm curious to hear what you think of it, particularly in the later parts. Keep us informed.
They're definitely worth it. Old and clunky, and the interface of the first definitely takes some getting used to, but they're classics- the original was actually begun at the same as the original DOOM, but came out much later due to its complexity taking longer. I cut my gaming teeth on what were (even at the time) older 90's games, and it's really interesting to see the creative ways challenges were overcome when the tech of the time couldn't do the job.
The first was really good, the second was alright, Infinite was a train wreck of a game. My biggest issue with the second one is that they basically found something about the first that was fun and just built a game around that, which isn't bad, just unoriginal. Infinite however: to put it bluntly, they only did three things right; the combat system, the relationship between Booker and Elizabeth, and Cornelius Slate. The story is like they had to many good ideas and couldn't whittle them found to just one or two. They had a lot of great concepts, but because they tried to do everything all at once they all come off as half baked. And the big twist about Comstock? Horrifically done. Another game did it first, and they did it A LOT better. And [MAJOR KINDA-SPOILER WARNING!!!] Booker murders Comstock so brutally in a cutscene that you're left sitting there like, "What the hell? Major overeaction!" Then they reveal the whole twist surrounding him, and then you're like "Ok, but still." They should have reversed the order, reveal twist then Booker killing him. The only reason they did it this way was for the shock, and they should be ashamed for that.
I also feel like it's worth noting that Comstock, the primary Antagonist of the game, just disappears after the beginning of the game, and doesn't come back until you finally catch up with him at the literal end of thd game. And even that felt like an afterthought. Like the developers were almost done with the game and then one guy just says, "We've forgotten about Comstock! The game's almost done! What do we do?" Then another guy just says, "How about we make it so that he's hiding on that blimp zeppelin thing they hijack to escape at the end and they need to get through him first?" Then the guy in charge was just like, "Good enough. Draw up a quick cutscene for it and we'll put it in." And that's it. Cornelius Slate deserved to be the primary antagonist of this game, he was that well written.
I've played bioshock infinite I really enjoyed it. So hopefully you get a chance to finish it!

I have all 3 for my xbox one in that collection. And... the funny thing is, i only like infinite and i already completed that before on my xbox 360 way back in the day. Would of been great if someone warned me the first 2 games are nothing alike. With pretty much the only same thing been the aesthetic of the world.
However i know the story to the first one has a great ending and that twist. And the 2nd game is slight interesting been an actually daddy. But compared i laughed. Feel like if i played it from 1st to infinite i would of liked 1st better. But because infinite is so much more polished i went from a 10 to a 7 expecting a 10.
Infinite also has a great story to me as well as perfect gameplay the sky rails so good only started the Dlc for Infinite which i never played before i do like it and the way it kinda combines the 1st game setting but with infinite polish.
Also best trailer ever, with one my favorite songs Beast of america which... perfectly fits the game and the coloration it has with america patriotism. People complain about politics in games but honestly this game was the best due to it.
I have been a gamer since 1988 and i have to say that Bioshock is one of the greatest games that have been made. Hope they don't make more and ruin it just like other legendary games.
Not going to lie I had to google BioShock to try and remember if I'd ever played it lol... At the moment I'm saying it's a No, but I'm just back home from England winning in the Euros, so I'm probably not the person to ask at this stage lol
sad to say it but i STILL have not played these yet even though i have them :'(
Yes, 1 and 2 are my favourites. I didn't like the aestetic of infinite
Cool BioShock photo & to be honest I haven’t played games like that in about twenty something years.
One of the best game franchises ever made.
Indecently the second one had the worst story but the best gameplay.
Also, home of the best Easter egg ever. 1:52

I don’t think they had it planned quite that far in advance. Mostly because of the overlapping story in part 2 and infinite. Maybe just something they threw in there because they liked the sound, then reused it again years later. and I always take a picture of Cohen after killing him.
I have the DLC's:Challenge rooms, Protector trials, Minerva's Den, Clash in the clouds, Burial at Sea, I have beaten the Base games, and I've beaten most of the DLC's
That's a pretty cool game series , even the expanded lore on it is really neat
i love bioshock! i love the story line! i rarely play video games - i own like 7 of them - 3 of them are bioshock!
Yeah I have all of them.
I played the first one once and it was pretty nice
Would you kindly play the others?
Absolutely. Just be careful. I introduced another friend to the series and now she has a full thigh tattoo to reference the games.
Only ever play infinite which was a good game.
I like the games. I finished all three of them
i would love to play it together
I don't think I have played it.
