I think it has to do with decaying corpses/cracasses of living things decompsing and fertilising the near by soil, enriching life.

In a more sense metaphorical sense, maybe it means the hardships you face now will be worth it in the end.

Or maybe it refers to the more less optimistic view of it, like the cyclic nature of life being followed by death followed by life again and so on, and that you are insignificant, you are just one part of this cycle and just like everyone you will submit to the finality of life.

Or maybe it means having an impact on the people around you. "ashes of your existence" as in what people will remember you for when you are no longer alive. And we should strive for this impact or legacy to fertilise or enrich the communities and people (and ultimately everything beyond—the universe) that were always there for us.
