What's the most you ever lost gambling?

I lost $60 today but have lost $400 before.

I say no more than $30, maybe on playing easy picks on PowerBall tickets. I really don't gamble or play the lottery. I only play when the jackpot becomes really large and there hasn't been a winner in awhile. I played a Bettlejuice slot type machine in Vegas and I put in $5 and I was over the moon when I won $75. I printed out my payout voucher and cashed it in.

Now in 2006, my dumbass mother in law gambled $26,000 of the only savings she had. She primarily listed it scratch off tickets. The blew it all. Then she took out a payday loan on her 2001, Ford Contour (a POS car) for $300 in an attempt to win that $26,000 back. Well I got a frantic call from my MIL that while she was at work her car was stolen from the parking lot. I get to work and asked her if she had called the police to make a report. She said no, and that's when the truth came out. So, from 2006 and current I have to manage my in-laws money. I pay all of their bills and they get a monthly allowance.

I never gamble more than $30-40 dollars cause I view my chances of losing money as higher than my chances of winning money and I would rather buy myself a steak or lobster tail dinner with $40 than spend it on something that I can’t eat or experience or wear or use.

Risk little gain little or lose little. Risk much, gain much or lose much. I don't gamble big bucks, I just enjoy the play, but I don't want to go broke. I say over all the times I have gambled, I'd say I am broke even. I have won and lost. The trick is to walk away while you're ahead. The longer you play, the more the house odds start to work against you. But I like to gamble its a lot of fun, you just have to be deciplined. Play what you decide to play and never take out more money to play more, that's how you get in trouble.
Next time, I go to vegas, I am thinking about bringing a grand to play instead of a couple hundred. I don't know if I am willing to take that risk just yet.

I've lost about £75 in the bookies in small, £20 at poker (in my defense here no-one expects 4 of a kind when they have a full house) and probably £40 over the years on the lottery

I've won £33.33 back on the lottery during the restaurant syndicate

Gambling is a little fun once in a while, but for me it's not all that.
I'll go gambling when in Vegas or wherever or if some friends want to go to the local casino, but I know I'm not going to win, so I look at it as entertainment and decide how much money I want to spend on that particular entertainment. I've probably dropped a couple hundred here and there in the name of having a little fun.

Ahem, ahem, ahem, I still deny this to family and friends but as this is relatively anonymous I can afford to be honest, so I lost the equivalent of £600 (at the time probably $540 dollars) on a one of boxing bet. There is a backstory to this as I'm not a massive gambler but I visited the States as part of a British boxers entourage/fan club and as solidarity bet a lot of money on him winning... long story cut short... he didn't win! lol
