The most famous olympian is going to depend on the era more than whom people may think is the most famous. Many dynamics involved in this. For example: in my era (70's and such) there were Mark Spitz who hit 7 Olympic Golds in 1972, just recently surpassed by Michael Phelps. But how many still remember him besides old dudes like me? There was Jesse Owens who crushed the Nazi beliefs of 1936. There was JimThorpe, one of the greatest athletes in America relegated to a footnote in history. 31 Reply Usain Bolt. Not only did he win a pile of medals (mostly gold) , he shattered world record's in each event. I mean, I doubt anyone will run quicker than 9.58sec over 100M anytime soon.
His minor medals came either in a relay or at the end of his career.10 Reply315 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. For me, it's not an individual Olympian, but the 1984 men's ice hockey team. One of the greatest moments in sports when they upset the Soviets for the gold.

+1 yHe's certainly the most notable recent Olympian, but I think the most accolades should go to Jesse Owens. If you don't know who he was or what he did and when, please do yourself a favor and look him up. The story is astonishing.

Unless you are talking about those who drink Olympia. Until 2003 it was brewed in Tumwater, near Olympia, WA. Decent beer. Then Pabst took it over and it is now brewed in Texas. Quality of the beer definitely took a dive. So here's to the brewers at Tumwater, the true Olympians.
Could be phelps but gotta remember jordan was also an olympian and i think kinda more popular
