You have to consider, females in gaming wasn't even really a thing until like, the Xbox 360/PS3 generation. Only like, 12 years ago did it become common. Believe me, I WISH there females playing Pokemon back in the late 90s and 2000s. They simply didn't exist, however. Even nowadays, female gamers only make up 11-15% of the actual gaming demographic, and about 29% if you include non-casual female gamers on PC and consoles. I know more play mobile gaming and they try to include these girls to artificially inflate the number of female gamers into being in the 40-percent range to be "woke," but "mobile gaming" is a f*cking oxymoron; your aunt playing Candy Crush doesn't count. 29% of female "Gamers" isn't a lot.
I support girls gaming, but at this point, it's better to not even gender it. "Gamer Girls" are trash. If you're a female who plays video games though (PC or console, mobile sh*t doesn't count), then you're just a female gamer. I don't want to have anything to do with "Gamer Girls" and them licking a controller or sticking a joystick between their tits.
This tries to bullsh*t its way into claiming almost half of all "gamers" are female, even though only a few play PC/consoles.Look at the top three "games" they claim women play the most, on the right.At its most artificially elevated numbers, only 30% (at the maximum) of non-casual gamers are women.
Not to say that assumptions are good, they're not, but statistically speaking, the heavily differing pool sizes naturally inclines the average girl gamer to not be as good as the standard we see for guy gamers.
For example, if 1 in every 100 players is decent, and there are 100,000 guys playing a game and only 1,000 girls playing a game, you will have 1,000 decent guy players and 10 decent girl players. This will give the general perspective that guys are better than girls at gaming since they see decent guy players WAY more frequently. Even though it might simply be an issue with pool size, rather than the difference between actual skill.
Then, if you continue this and go from decent player to good player (like 1 in every 500), then to great players (1 in every 1,000), then amazing players (1 in every 10,000), so on and so forth. Due to the significantly smaller pool size, it's much less likely that a girl happens to be one of the good, great, amazing, etc, players.
So to be clear, I'm not condoning the assumptions, I'm simply answering why some people do make those assumptions. I firmly believe that these sort of things are better operated with individualism, rather than collectivism (as most things are). So people wouldn't see it as "girls tend to be worse at games than guys" and start saying "I'll wait to discern this person's skills (who happens to be a girl) until I have adequate evidence."
You can find averages in anything, but when whatever it is averaging has a highly varied value, the averages don't always give you the proper perspective on whatever it is that you're regarding. Take race, for example. People might assume white people are better or more knowledgeable at golf on average. And while that is true, it doesn't show you the plethora of white people that have never played golf at all. So it's not reasonable to assume "that's a white person, they probably know a lot about golf." Thus, treating people as individuals, and not whatever group of immutable characteristics they belong to, is the best way to go about it.
I understand and I feel like more guys start gaming at a younger age so they get to develop things like game sense and etc but girls usually start gaming much later which is why they might not be as good as guys

I think I stopped playing before whatever came after the first Black Ops was released. But if I recall correctly, they tires to disincentivize QS in the first Black Ops (but the community still made it work lol). I know there are games where I single handedly carried the team, but never get recognized. If I have an off game though, boy do they let me hear it. Most other times though I get to either get hit on or told "girls don't play games".

I think it all stems from most girls not being as represented, competitive, and obsessed with gaming as much as most guys are. My girlfriend is relatively good at cod but her gamer bros use the excuse of her being masc and rather count her as "one of the bros" which I agree does overshadow the fact that she often kicks their bottom despite being a woman. Its a shame people want to see a simplistic world with easy divisions.

There was a thread the other month on here about sexism in ESports and it’s a big thing, especially with those casual comments with sexual or sexist undertones, they sit with the same casual racist comments (both of which caused funding to be removed from the guys team).
A lot of girls are bloody good players and to get on to a team you need to be really rocking your game play.
The usual excuse is the all gamers ‘trash’ talk everyone, however we used examples from some matches where individual girls were being targeted where a guy would not have been. Basically it gives those who do not usually have the balls to say something, to slag off a girl, where if he did it to a guy he would have his head ripped off.

Trash female gamers are just more obvious because female gamers are less common overall. I have like 20 girls I play games with regularly, including my girlfriend and her sister, and almost all of them suck major ass. Literally hard stuck lowest ranks in every game we play. There's about 3 of them who are any good. Most of my guy friends also suck major ass, but it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb because there's just so many of us I guess. The ratio probably evens out to about the same.
Conclusion: If more girls were to play competitive games, this stupid stereotype would just disappear after a while.
Don't take my comment as me being against mobile games. I know the accessibility is unmatched and that they're popular because of it. Whether I personally like mobile games isn't a factor. The reason that being good at mobile shooters means fuck all, is a very simple one. They're just so damn casual. The best players on mobile are still about as skillful as stationary targets. It's like saying you're intelligent by acing 3rd grade math problems when you're 25.
There are actually a lot of pro cod players, you just have to be in spaces to find them. You can also play scrims against many people who play competitively or join competitive esports teams for it.

Again, popularity or my like/dislike for mobile games is not the point. Being good at COD Mobile is as easy as being able to shoot stationary targets. There's a very obvious skill ceiling. COD in general is not a very competitive game anymore, being aimed almost exclusively at casuals these days.

When you start playing other shooters that aren't as casual, you'll start understanding what I mean. COD is not as competitive as you think. It's the "filthy casuals" thing, so to speak. It hasn't been competitive in about a decade.

Low sample size. Women are the majority of people in the world, yet, for some reason, gaming is a male dominated hobby. I assume it's because women don't enjoy the stress, pressure, competition, and toxicity in games. There are no female leagues or teams in videogames, and what's the excuse exactly? Probably because there's so few women that are passionate about gaming... but it's easy to just say because women suck.
And uhh... mobile games aren't exactly highly regarded in the gaming community, especially COD. It's like when people play candy crush or solitaire and say they're a gamer. I worked a summer when I was your age and by the time I was done, I had about 1100$ bucks and I used that money to build my own PC. Still running the same PC today with several upgrades
Codm is actually quite popular, it has around 210 million downloads. It’s fairly new, I’ve been playing it since it was first released in 2021. It’s not the same as “candy crush” that’s for sure. If anything using a Pc is easier cause you can use more joints with your mouse. For mobile you have to rely on only your thumbs. I also am on a all girl team, there are female pro gamers as well.
I'm not saying they're not popular, mobile games by far make the most revenue... they're just low quality.
And PC is easier, which results in a wider skill distribution and higher skill ceiling. Console and mobile games have things like aim assist, bullet magnetism, and a fixed framerate, which isn't as competitive. And since PC has so many more buttons, you can get super complicated with the games. Stuff like Starcraft and Dota would never be able to exist in the same capacity on a console or mobile.
You have sim assist on literally every game it doesn’t matter if you play console, pc, or mobile. There’s also a option to turn it off. not everyone has the money to buy a gaming pc
I know crossplay games usually can be used with a controller on PC which activates the aim assist, and that seems to be what they're talking about. It's somewhat controversial because the aim assist makes for an unfair advantage and everyone switches to controller, like people have seen with Fortnite. You take away the aim assist and console players suck ass compared to mouse and keyboard.

Meh. I usually don't play FPS games and have been in the modding community of 5-6 games since I was a teenager. I had maybe one encounter where a guy just spouted nonsense and I shrugged it off because it was so random. Boys shit on each other all the time.
But I don't know. Maybe it's a different environment in online FPS games. Maybe RPG guys are more polite.
@Still-alive Yeah. I mean, I always considered everyone's behaviour in rpg gaming communites "normal". I assume people would like to communicate with each other like humans.
But then again maybe the crappy side of people comes out as a side effect of competition. There is trash-talk and smack-talk. People trash talked their opponents in competitions forever. It has always been the psychological part of warfare, and naturally it was imported to online gaming.
I'm not condoning it, but I can see the competitive nature of those games pushing people, especially more hot-headed and maybe weaker ones, into using trash talk. And when it's used frequently it becomes the norm. I assume teenage girls are relatively more sensitivs to verbal abuse so it's used rather effectively against female opponents.
@Still-alive Other than FF and KH, no. But I think I have and played every singls FF game (I'm not sure about 2 and 3 actually atm should check). I've been thinking about trying Dragon Quest XI. I started with FF but then fo1 and diablo and then Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3 etc. consumed most of my gaming time (still are). But I still go back to my PS for FF tactics. "Delita" and "Ramza"... childhood crushes hahah.

You're better at those first person shooter games than me because that's not my style. I'm more into Tekken, Mortal Kombat. The only shooting games I enjoy and am good at is Borderlands and Fear.. but I don't play online though. Mostly play by myself for relaxation.

It's a generality. Most women don't play as much as men. We've had girlfriend's who want to play, and it might just be a pain because they can't and the ramp up time can be significant. So... based on experience, most women just don't play well. There are of course exceptions, just like there are a lot of men who can't play well either.
I have never heard this before, but I have seen a lot of girls who do not play games well (even non-video games). I'd say that it's not that girl gamers are bad. It is probably just the following factors: there are less girl gamers so less good ones simply by numbers; most girls that guys encounter playing games are not really gamers just casuals, checking it out, or playing for someone they like; guys are more competitive so skill aside men will tend to push more for victory; also its possible even real girl gamers tend more toward the social aspects then combative ones even if they are good at them. I'm not gonna write a whole article here, but I could do with a discussion. I don't think girl gamers are bad, just that most of them aren't intensive gamers.

I wouldn't say they're trash but objectively speaking, when it comes to tournaments male competitors tend to out perform female competitors. There are also biological advantages like males on average having quicker reactions times than females. So there is some substance to the claim but most people who actually say it probably just don't like the idea of having girls in the video game community

Well it fits the definition of gaming and pc gamers need to get the stick out of their ass. Not everyone can afford a good gaming pc and if anything pc gamers have the advantage with a bigger screen plus you use more joints to aim with a mouse. Mobile players are stuck with how many fingers they use, that’s why many mobile fps players will play with 4-10 fingers to make up for it
I wouldn't consider mobile gaming as "gaming" either. When a girl I met said she was into "gaming" and pull out her phone I was so sad because I thought I found a fellow gamer friend. The interface is way too simple and doesn't take as much time to learn. Gamers like fine motor skills that are challenging. They almost automatically seek out the best "way" to do something. I don't see that challege as much in mobile. The manuevers seem too easy to learn so you're just getting screen service without technique. I understand being a gamer without a system, but I also understand why most gamers wouldn't consider mobile as gaming.
I do game on pc, my pc can’t run cod that’s why I play mobile. I have played cod on pc but it was my cousins pc, once I get a job I’d love to build my own gaming pc though ^^
There is a presumption that these girls are there just for the attention of guys and are not really into games at all. Go do an experiment, play lol or dota with randos, see how many girls and guys are and which are good or trash. Collect the results after a lot of play. 100% of the girls will be trash, a 100% of the boys will be trash, everyone is a sore loser, you also are trash. Somehow the enemy team is significantly better, as if by magic, defying all laws of statistics.
There's a reason why, but if you don't know already, you are a trashy player with zero intent to get better. Which not wrong. That's most players. The objective of games is to play, not to win.
But there's a reason why good players seem weirdly concentrated in enemy teams, in any game.
I play competitive. So I play scrims against actual players who have been playing the game for years, you might get bad players cause in a lot of casual Lobbies especially on less popular games have bots to fill matches
It goes deeper, people who are more invested at the game play more and play in teams, the more you play, the better you get. People who play better flock together as well, so it piles up.
And beyond that, this is also true for toxicity. Non-toxic players flock together, so toxic players are forced to play with each other. And tough-skin players also flock, which makes thin skinned players forced to play with each other.
Oh... Well, then it's explained. Do not let your gender/sex animus cloud your judgment. Keep playing, get better, keep playing and get better until you end up living of it.
Though I wouldn't recommend living of E-sports, it's very volatile. I couldn't live of that. You do your best to be the best player in the world and one update makes you obsolete. And the audience wants updates.
So I take back what I said, just play to your satisfaction and have fun. Make a living out of streaming, way more stable.

Another pro tip to get people worth listening to to stop trash talking you if you do streaming, ensure them you are anti-SJW and not a feminist. That goes a long way to gain respect.
I feel like that’s just a stereotype, the girl gamers I play with all are very good and do it for fun. There are some pick me girls that play games for attention but that’s a small sub group
I think its just because most girls aren't that good at video games just because there are fare fewer girls that actually play. That means the pool is small so less chance of a real good player.

I don't think anyone does. People trash talk but they trash talk every one, I don't think they have singled out women (in fact statistically men are more likely to be harassed on line then women are).
I don't assume that at all, but why people do I think has to do with stereotypes of most girl gamers having 100s of beta male friends who give them attention and money sometimes superchat etc. And also the stereotypes that she is lazy and never goes out but playing games all the time. It's mostly all the guy friends she has when she has boyfriend already and still flirts and needs attention with random strangers online.

It could be they've never played against one. I'd have them play me in Mario kart to prove them wrong. I'm a champion when it comes to that and Smash Bros.
I played Black Ops with girls and I really enjoyed that because I got further into the game by playing with them. Only they would get greedy with the weapon box. And that would spoil the game if their partner dies early lol. Anyway you are getting a bit mindful of abuse so just be mindful how long you go on that for because most warfare communities are toxic. Guys are toxic to each other, I was in the military to know that. Girls were in our groups there and learnt to avoid conflict and seek out the guy who respected opinions and didn't angrily argue.
It usually have to do with the streaming that's who used their bodies on simps who would do anything for their queens. I generally think it's has nothing to do with actual girls who plays video games.

Well personally i dont have issues with girl gamers. I have friends who are girls that play games. My main issue though is when they say they are gamers but only play mobile games which are NOT THE SAME THING!
