How can I make my left hand good as my right hand in piano?

I have been playing piano for 30 mins everyday from around 2 years. My right hand have improved a lot but my left hand can't become fast. The maximum I can do from left hand is playing three keys at a time.

This is my YouTube channel. You can see the right hand is pretty well but left hand can't do much. The most nice performance by my left hand was in the piano cover of Believer. You can check it out. Please share some tips to make a stronger left hand.

I'm learning the piano/keyboard for the first time. My advise is START from the beginning. You practice left hand movements until you improve, and you have your right hand to follow. Focus on the basics first. What I use is the beginners book for adults from Alfred's. That have helped me a lot. I believe because we are used to writing with right hand and using right for everything. As most people use the right hand for stuff, start training your brain to utilize the left more and see which one works good.

Now. I am no expert. But I can clearly see that your left is shaky, as if your not comfortable and uncertain about it. You have to learn to have your left had flow. The right naturally flows because again, we use that more. So you have to practice from the beginning until you get that flow with your left. And maybe do some hand exercise throughout the day to get that some exercise.

I would suggest to go back to your basic lessons on hand movements and start there. Then find elementary songs for kids (think of you learning all over again), and build from there. Once you lock down the basics, the rest should come a little easier with practice. You have to think of your body similar to a computer. Even our computers and handholds need to be "Recallubrated" at times right? Things get dusty, some keys get stiff with used and age right? It is the same with our bodies. What helped me and I am still on lessons 1-2, I keep going back until I mastered that, and even if I did, if I FEEL I could do better, guess what? I start all over again as if I didn't at all, by choice. You have to choose to start at the beginning without feeling like you have to be "babied". Remember your learning and you cannot rush, but go in baby steps, not to judge yourself TOO HARSHLY. BUT do judge yourself not on quality alone, but where you can improve and take care of yourself. It is both physical and psychological. Find out what is your greatest fear with playing the piano. Maybe have a teacher guide you on that in instruction for piano. That may help you.

From the video you've provided, my biggest advice would be to sit in a higher spot or bring the piano down to a lower setting. I think they say you ideally want your elbows to align with the height of the piano keys. But a bit higher is also good. This will help a lot.

And then of course, there are other tips like tapping from your fingers instead of your wrists. But that's harder. Even I need more practice with that one.

After you adjust the height, I definitely reccommend playing classical music. You don't have to learn huge sonatas or anything, but little samples from different classical songs will help with your technique developement. You want it to be difficult, but not impossible. So, Ideally find a classical son within your playing level or a bit above it.

That means I need to stand and play. I'm too short for the tables and chairs in my home. lol. Classical music like Fur elise and Turkish March? Or a bit tricky like River flows in you?

😂 You might just have to add a bunch of cushions until you can get a taller chair. That's what I do. Or you could modify your piano stand. Or maybe look into getting a lower one.

You might even wanna check out "Czerny - The School of Velocity" if you wanna play some things that sound good but are still technically challenging.

But tbh, any type of music with complex fingering is good. I was always a peculiar pianist. I didn't like learning the full songs for the longest time. But I'd have many difficult little sections from songs in my repertoire. And it turns out that that's part of what helped me progress as fast as I did. So I definitely recommend that.

As you're learning a song you like, also be practicing other very difficult things & it will pay off!

If I add cushion then my mom will beat me till I become cushion lol. Also it is the only table I can keep piano on the other tables are used by my mom's gardening stuff. I gotta stand. I will look for the song you suggested. Thanks a lot.

It is a piano without pedals. A simple Yamaha electric piano which looks real because it is of black color. hehe

I've got separate sustain pedals, the Yamaha one I have is the best in my opinion. So easy to press. I played the keyboard for like 6 years without one and then when I got it, it was a game changer! But I definitely don't think my teqnique would be as good if I had one early on.

Practice, Practice, practice. I guess if you find so e other type of dexterity focused exercise you could do that as well. But really it comes down to improving your muscles over time and also your mind muscle connection or whatever you call that stuff

Probably, your right hand has gotten practise all your life

Oh I got it. I need to increase nerve connection in my left and brain. I will do most things in left hand so it will be equal. Time for my left hand to for work!!!
