I prefer to listen whenever I have the choice. On the other hand, I do not believe cyberbullying is a thing, so you have an opportunity to change my mind :-D

Cyberbullying does exist. It's been around ever since social media was born.

I am aware of claims that it does. Once we get to specifics, the examples people bring up tend to be fairly mild mean comments or repeated messages. If it gets rough quickly, the healthy reaction is to shrug and block the person doing it. Even pre-internet, all the adults taught us how to deal with these situations, but real life bullying has one big advantage. You can't remove yourself from that situation and often even the intervention of authorities is not enough, because you have to come to the same place the next day and see the same person again and nobody has time to supervise real life interactions most of the time. With cyberbullying, in most instances you are two clicks away from shutting the person up for as long as you wish. As soon as a persons skin gets thick enough to survive online in the first place, defense against any so called bullying should be easy. If it is so subtle that you yourself don't notice it and can't act against it, that can be pretty nasty manipulation and even abuse, but that is usually not included in what people describe as cyberbullying.
For these reasons, the examples people do bring up tend to be about the "victim's" feelings rather than anyone elses action being truly a persistent problem.
I get really upset when people try to flag any mean comment as problematic and then use that as a tool to proactively shut people up in general, instead of personally blocking them as they can and should.
I am not suggesting that people don't say nasty stuff online, but I specifically object to the idea that online bullying is anywhere near the level of what people experience face to face. It's like the "words are violence" claims. Misuse of serious labels for much less important matters, which then devalues the terms used and is used as a cudgel to punish people you don't like.
I am open to changing my mind, but so far I remain unconvinced by the cyberbullying claims.
