When I was five, I would look up at my daad and think what it was going to be like when I are up when I grew up and saw things from a higher point of view. When I was 20 or 30, I would just like down on the floor, stare up at the ceiling, and think of what I- and the things around me- were going to be like- when I was 40 or 50 (or heavens 70!!!).
Now I lay down on the bed staring at a different ceiling and wish I were five again!
But I'm kind of doing things backward compared to the actual question you asked. For those who remember hundreds of TV shows and movies from Andy Griffith, MASH, Batman and Gomer Pyle, USMC, right down to "Gone with the Wind", here are comparison shots of the Desilu Studio "40 acres" backlot where many of these were created.

Most are now done with computer generated effects. They don't need big studios now. Besides, some of the backdrops looked so fake in the old shows and you could see people's shadows on them when it was supposed to be a desert background, and light coming from two or more directions.

Star Trek was one of the worst in the respect of obvious studio lighting. Also very obvious where the raised flooring met the cyclorama to create the forced perspective. The Mayberry town at Desilu was nice, showed up in numerous show/movies with various signage changes, eventually came back ON Star Trek in a time travel sequence. . Of course the "insert shots" (cars, stage coaches, planes) of most shows (before CG) were marginal at the very best, and most were downright poor.

I do that often yes... since nowadays I'm living down in Mexico, one of the houses in which I grew up as a very young kid and sometimes it's a bit weird, can look very much as the place it used to be 30 years ago and at the same time can feel very different rather than familiar, but it's a good feeling overall

I have a picture book of the city i live in. Pictures are from the early 1900s to the founding of the city in the 1700s. I have dont the same thing. Found a building thats still standing from the book. Found the angle. Almost exact spot the old pic was taken and taken one then put them together in a single pic as a comparision. Its pretty cool

Things have been getting worse by the year exponentially in every aspect of life. Health, sexuality, politics, economics, there's been more and more Natural disasters of all sorts. I just saw yesterday of how Mary Greely on youtube, a vulcanologist was reporting "ball lightning" at the old faithful area in Yellowstone National Park. That's horrific news, yet, it's not really being reported on any news network.

@sean1234 Probably with all this Covid hullabaloo no one wants to hear any more possible bad news. The news carries stories that draw the most notice and ball lightening does not peak their interest. There has been talks of mini quakes there for years but now people call it crying wolf. However, if the story expanded and equated ball lightning with the possible eruption of a Super Volcano there would be more panic.
