Lord of the rings,
Took decades to write
Was the product of a teacher of history religion and ancient stories passed down for thousands of years.
Created several working languages and a complete history of events.
Invented an entire genre without it there wouldn't be a Harry Potter !!!

A collection of cheap cliche and completely derivative
Absolutely nothing new at all, written in a few months at a grade school reading level.

Those two things are not comparable. There both very different films. And because I am bias in the fact I dislike harry potter in anyway I would pick Lotr. But it's not a red apple vs green apple this comparing apples to oranges and kinda wouldn't make sense to do so. ]

Lotr without a doubt. Harry Potter movies are good movies but that is as far as I go with that. Games of thrones are much better if we exclude most of the last season. But even it doesn't measure up to lotr.

Honestly, I'm more of a Lord of the Rings fan, there's a lot of depth and symbolism in that series than in Harry Potter. I like both don't get me wrong but as I said LotR is it for me in the end.
