Is playing Super Mario 64 against a friend a couple of times a week "gaming"?

Not big leagues gaming, but some sort of retrovertigo outdated gaming I guess. It's technically gaming but it is not popular, the younger people may not look now about this.

Yeah that's what makes it not sit wuite right for me, that I consider "gaming" to be an activity like "serious" gamers do, like playing modern online games for multiple hours every day and the like.

We play on separate consoles, have a clock we start when we say "go" and then compete for the first one to get x amount of starts.

I don't know, I gues it just doesn't sit quite right with me that "happying along" with a buddy every once in a while with an old game is considered gaming, I feel like gaming is more modern games, streaming, online, tournaments etc.

Good question. I guess it technically is "gaming" because we do play a videogame, but to me gaming is like playing more moderns online games, streaming it, playing tournaments, "e-sports" kind of stuff, not playing an old game for fun with a friend every once in a while.
