I couldn't even tell if this was a joke or not. Has there literally been 42 f*cking seasons of this garbage-ass show? Is CBS even still a thing? I remember Survivor came out in 1999, right? That means they've been doing two seasons a year for two decades straight? That is so damn depressing... Next, you're going to tell me Jersey Shore is still a thing.

This season YES!! Last season I tried watching from day one but it sucked so bad, I stopped my DVR from recording anymore episodes. So far 42 looking pretty good

I agree with @Flower7 who said she'd never seen any of the previous "Survivor" seasons.

Me neither.

I hate that show.

It is one of the reasons why our society is so dysfunctional and fucked up and hyperpartisan now.

Seriously, the debut of "Survivor" is one of those events in American history that historians will assert helped trigger a major degradation of American society.

How do you feel like this show had an effect on politics?

1. It began "reality TV" in earnest and deliberately made confrontations. It stroked people's sense of schadenfreude and disunity. Basically, it was gas on the fire of peoples' "ids".

2. Because of its success, it was "pedal to the metal" for reality TV. All this cheaply produced reality TV took away valuable air time and resources for quality scripted TV which, since the debut of TV, has been a critical "third parent" towards teaching ethics and other positive cultural norms.

The net effect has been a dumbing-down and greater acceptance of behavior that would be considered atrocious to earlier generations.

didn't even know that show was STILL airing. Its a definite nope for me. Never saw the appeal of the show. Even when all I had was the basic channels and had that show as one of the few options to watch.

I watched one episode, they were sitting around hungry, surrounded by edible plants , next to a pond with fish, couldn't make a fire catch a fish, rabbit etc..

It was like watching a group of four year olds try to do a tax return. Sad really.

Nope. I think I've only seen 2 episodes in 41 seasons. To me, the show is dumb, and much of it is staged by the producers. It's not reality.

Do not see the attraction of this program as they are not really Surviving. the participants know they have a safety net if things go wrong, they are LARPing.

I don't watch reality shows of any kind. I'm not even sure how they came to be called that. They certainly don't resemble real life. But, that's just my opinion.

I can’t believe it’s been 42 years since the first season. That would mean Jeff Probst is well into his late 70s.

I looked it up and it started in 2022. Jeff is 61, was born in 1961.

and have very little to do with reality.
