I am so excited!
Anyone else like Bluegrass Music?
I am so excited!
I like bluegrass music. Some of it kicks ass. I love it when a guitar, mandolin and fiddle trade off hot leads.
When I was a kid, I loved the music of the Darling family on the Andy Griffith Show. The musicians were actually a band called the Dillards. That's how I first got turned onto bluegrass.
I've heard some great bluegrass over the years and have seen some great bands. I even know some excellent bluegrass musicians.
The problem is, like with Celtic and other folk music genres, it starts to sound the same after while. I can only handle so much. Actually, that's true with any genre. I prefer variety.
Also, my favorite kind of music has electric instruments. It's more dynamic. I love things like Celtic-rock fusion and Latin jazz. I love progressive rock that brings together themes, elements, instruments and rhythms from a variety of musical influences.
Yes as I grew up around it. Close family member played fiddle and harmonica. And from part of country where lots of people enjoy bluegrass…
i love bluegrass and folk music. me and my brother and friends have been going to the san francisco yearly event hardly strictly bluegrass festival except for last year cause of covid.
Nice! :)
I wonder if you have had the privilege of seeing Father John Misty? Really enjoy some of his tongue in cheek songs. Writing a novel might be my favorite
There was a cafe I used to go to and they often had Bluegrass musicians on the patio. It was always fun watching them, however I wouldn't know the names of any bluegrass bands.

I don't go out of my way to look for it but, if someone's playing it where I am, I have no major aversion to it. I have at least 60,000 records in my collection, as of yesterday, and it spans the last 120-some years and includes nearly every genre you can think of! I listen to pretty much all of it!
Wow, I only have 6,820 songs in my collection of all genre's.
It's going to take me a few days to catch up with you... lol
At LEAST a few days! I've been collecting since I was 2! But, you've got the money!
I don't know what I would do with that many songs, there are other even more fun things I need to occupy my time with as well :)
*IF you've got the money! Who do I keep missing entire words?
A lot of them I either have more than one copy of or they're stuff I'm not interested in so, I'll end up selling those.
Nice :)
"Ashokan Farewell," by Jay Ungar is one of my all-time favorites.
Have you ever seen this?
"Anchored in Love," by The Carter Family
Sung by [Unknown], Stephanie, and Nick.
Nice, thank you for sharing :)
I really enjoy some of the modern bluegrass music. My husband has a ton of Bluegrass on vinyl and CD going back to the 50s and 60s. Greensky bluegrass, perhaps some Wilco and Uncle Tupelo could fit in with what I enjoy as well.
Sorry! Can’t forget Trampled By Turtles!
Never really got into it. I do jazz, blues, 80’s and 90’s.
I super love those genre's too! ... nice :)
It's okay. I assume it's like a folkier version of country music, which I can get behind, but I'm not that fond of country music to start with.
I do like it. I am a big fan of Jonathan Edwards and the Seldom Scene.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/3Rps80QdDtMI love what I've heard, but it's like saying you love "all" rock n roll from the 60s. The fact is some of it's great and some sucks!
I like it. I’m a little more into what I call neo-bluegrass like the Avett Brothers.
I can handle it in small doses - maybe about 4 or 5 really well chosen, different sounding songs, but not a whole concert. And there's no fiddle player in this group, which makes it less interesting to me.
You're not paying attention again silly boy!
Ms Katie is a fiddle player almost exclusively although she does play some other instruments as well...

Ohh... I was just looking at the pictures and missed the last one. Oops.
Just looking at the pictures? ... I'll bet you got into that habit from finding your dads playboys... lol
yup I like dixieland. and some good old-school yodeling blues.
Jimmy Rodgers
I enjoy it from time-to-time especially when performed by highly talented performers.
Bluegrass is cool. It’s a unique style of music that doesn’t get much playtime in mainstream pop culture.
I like bluegrass music. Last concert went to was nitty gritty dirt band. Saw different traditional and comercial bluegrass acts back in the 70s.
You should listen to Jimmy Martin or Country Gentlemen if you haven't already
I don't at all lol. But I don't want to say something negative, because you seem to be really stoked for this concert. 😛
I can take it or leave it. I am more of a classic rock guy.
I like some of Mumford & Sons.
Some of it is great some not so good.
I live in Kentucky. It's sort of required here
Ry Cooder is awesome!¬!!

In light moderations I am a hard rock fan
