Name the best SCI-FI movies you have ever seen?

This isn't the best film by any measure, and it's obviously low budget (I think it cost only $50,000 to make). The acting is bad, and it didn't make much money, but I like the plot, and there's an interesting conversation about phenomenology towards the end of it (I'm interested in philosophy, among other things), and the effects are good for the time when it was made (1974).
The film is Dark Star. An oldie but a goodie. It's now a cult classic :)

I would rather re-watch this movie than any of the awful superhero films that have come out over the last 15 or so years, that's for sure.
Also the original 'The Time Machine' from 1960 with Rod Taylor (the remake of 2002 was good too, but the original is better). '2001: A Space Odyssey' was very boring and very confusing. 'Star Wars' is basically for children. No offence, but I think it's kind of obvious.

Most of my favorites you've probably already seen; of those you might not've, I'd suggest Duncan Jones Moon, from 2009. If you haven't heard of it, perfect- the less you know going in, the better. It's a masterfully written story and shows that you don't need big budget effects or huge casts to have a compelling sci-fi movie.
