Oh boy - optical illusions! One of my faves - - - - - -

The woman will appear to turn halfway, reverse: turn backward halfway, again: reverse again and turn halfway: continuing this pattern. The eye wants to deal with the closest image, hence the repeated half-turns of the image.

And how can you go wrong with the Penrose Steps, a classic. Escher created a couple of variations, including "Ascending and Descending" (pictured).

Small stair (stare) case is a simple multi-vantage-point illusion.

As far as your decor pic (#1), a point light source in the lower left was set in such a position as to create a different set of shadows as the eye goes across the scene. A wide angle lens helps by adding some distortion, as in most close-up "selfies" with mobile phones. My example shows the lens distortion from wide angle lenses, with the same lighting.

This is why portrait photographers will put the camera several feet from their subjects.

Illusions that "hypnotize" the eyes (and therefore, the brain) into following a particular motion for a period of time- typically 30 seconds- result in the (seeming) reverse movement of the after-image which is perceived by the viewer. After-images are reversed in color, and if moving, in movement too.
Here's the US flag, in reversed color and values. Look at it for 30 seconds, then look at a white wall and see it in the correct colors.

Stare at the center for 30 seconds. Then, look away at a white wall or sheet of paper.
