Why is my VBA (Visual Boy Advance) emulator running so fast?

For anyone who plays games on their computer using the emulator VBA
My emulator shows that it's running at 2000% or faster than normal speed. How do I get it lower? I've tried looking online and I can't find anything that works. I can't find a way to get it slower, I don't need it to be at 100%, just at a manageable speed. As it is now 2000% means that I can only move in straight lines, and I only stop when crashing into a wall.

Have you tried using the 'frame rate'# reduction key? I use a different emulator to you.. (MAME) but one of the F keys slows it down.. try them all and see what happens.. just remember if you try something and it alters something else,, press the f key again to toggle it back!

My frame skip is at 0, and I have tried getting the throttle as low as 5%, it's worked twice (at which point I can set it the speed I want 100%-300%) and I've tried loading up games well over 25 times. It only has this problem when I use a USB controller, which is odd as that being plugged in shouldn't cause the game to go into mega turbo mode.

Wait a sec.. I remember reading something about this... Something to do with the X-Y AXIS settings of a controller causing a conflict. (Admittedly that was on MAME) but let me go see what I can find in relation to your emu..

Whilst I do.. have you configured the controller also what O/S are you using?

No idea. I just searched on Google on a way to download VBA, and on the first site that allowed me to do that safely, I did so. I could send you the link to the site if you would be willing to help. I just found my controller on Amazon, I was looking for one that could connect through US to my laptop, so I didn't have to use the keyboard. Also this is only on my new CPU, it worked fine on my older one.

I cannot help until much later as The football (England Germany game is on) BUT, that is VERY interesting.. Do you have the latest Graphics Drivers? and the latest version of Direct X from Microsoft? It feels now like a graphics/ Driver issue to me.

I have NO IDEA. I don't know much about computers. I'm better with using the features provided to me than understanding how they work.

Usually you can limit it in the settings.

If i can remember it correctly you start the Emulator and before you load a Rom, you can enter the setting and somewhere in the menu you should be able to limit the speed to 100%.

I think that worked one of the times, but not the other.

Most emulators have an option that limits speed to that of the original. It should be default enabled but maybe you disabled it. Otherwise it will run at the speed of your current hardware, which is way faster than a visual boy I assume
