I need the laptop to run fl studio daw for music production. My fiance gave me a budget so I am seeking for something good but not too expensive.

I want laptop cause I want it to be mobile. Also I want to use Fl studio daw. The software requires ar least:

Ram: 16
CPU speed: 3.6 - 4.2 GHz
Processor: i5, or i7 or Ams rhyzen but fast
Win: 10
Internal storage drive: 500gb or 1 to 2 tb.
SSD preferred over HDD
Screen resolution:Full

I would say, get an SSD. Make sure you get no less than a 16GB of RAM. If you are going to be running a bit of plug-ins the more RAM the better. TB of local storage is good. I usually keep my music that I’ve worked on and completed in an encrypted external drive. So as to free up the local storage. FL studio is ok, if all you are planning on doing is making beats.. really… if you are trying to produce music, I would set the bar higher than FL. But everyone has there own DAW they like.

I’m more an engineer than a producer. They do a lot more than just work with the music or whatever audio. However, I like my workflow to be mostly with the audio.

I use logic, pro tools, studio one. I have used FL, but it’s not as intuitive if you want to branch out. But it is still powerful. Pro tools is the top of the line. It’s what the big producers and engineers use. That and Ableton Live, they are great for beat making and certain genre of music production like EDM. I personally like logic and studio one.

Abelton I don’t use much. Pro tools I use a bit more. Out of all studio one and logic I use the most. They aren’t hard… it’s just a different interface. The biggest thing to help you is to get use to it is to actually dig in and try things… if you use stuff like compression, EQ, gates, etc.. that stuff works the same. So most of the stuff is the same, just the way you get to it and such is different.

I’ve only really used intel processors. I wouldn’t use anything less than an core i5 or i7. I mean. If you get the fastest GHz in your processor, then yes, it will add to the efficiency. But I’d be more interested in the RAM. Because if you get more 8 GBs of RAM at the highest 3. something GHz… it’s not really going to do much good against a computer that has 16 or 32 GB of RAM at 2.5 or something. If that makes any sense.. the point is. Load up on RAM first, more important then the clock speed.

If you can upgrade to 1TB of SSD. Then I’d go with the first one but I’ve never really used AMD Ryzen processors.. I’ve always used intel and I now have an M1. But I’d go with the SSD over HDD anyday

3.5 is the maximum or turbo speed that you will see only on heavy tasks. 2.6 is what it will run at on average for lower-intensity tasks. You will not be able to ever tell the difference, and the speeds are automatic and not user-selectable.

You are paying attention to the wrong things here. Pay attention to the graphics instead - what resolution, what screen technology, and what screen size?

You're confused about the options - not the speed.

Also, Fruity Loops can practically run on a potato, even a basic Windows or Mac will run it.

You're either not being honest with your budget or want something more for less.

Anything above 2Ghz is fine for a music producing laptop. But you want 8GB RAM at least, with a 500GB SSD.

However, sometimes SSD models can be a ripoff. You're far better getting the HDD model, and buying the SSD cheaper elsewhere, cloning the drive and replacing it with the SSD yourself. You'll often get a better quality SSD as well.

do not buy this fking trash. These cheap HPs are the worst thing on the planet. Nobody in their right mind has put a spinning hdd in a laptop in almost a decade now. This is absurdly old and shitty. What do you care what your cpu is when you have 8 gigs of ram and a fking hdd?

Basically, get something with an ssd instead of an hdd and get minimum 16 gigs of ram. 8 gigs is just not enough for modern stuff

I stand by macs personally, certain models. If you wanna buy new, for music production, I’d say finance at 0% cause they offer that a new macbook pro 14. Base specs will be enough, just upgrade ssd to 1tb. If you want a deal, buy used, get an A1502 (early 2015 macbook pro 13) with above base specs. Base spec won’t really cut it. You can ofc get an external thunderbolt drive for added storage or upgrade ssd but try to find 256 at least for ssd. Also 16 gigs of ram is ideal. Processor, eh, doesn’t really matter that much it’s just music production.

If you wanna buy windows, I don’t know as much. Mac is way better for music production in my opinion tho. If you’re really on a budget, the m1 mac mini will be the best buy. The macbook pro 13 m1 is also a great budget buy for something new. (M2 not a good enough deal in my opinion) don’t get an air cause they have no fan and are not designed for long intensive use.

But yeah please do not buy a cheap HP whatever you do, they look like good deals but they are fucked. Asus makes a much better laptop.

It depends on what you are doing on the computer. The AMD Ryzen 3 is a decent proccesor. It is not as good as Intel's i5 but is comparable to the i3.
