How FAST is your HOME INTERNET?

My SO and I don't play video games, though we do stream videos, and our Internet speed, slow by some measurements, suits us well. Most of our time on the Internet is sending/receiving email and web surfing, neither of which requires fast speeds.

What is the speed of your home Internet?

In comparison, my Android phone on T-Mobile 5G...
PING=15ms... DOWNLOAD=663Mbps... UPLOAD=22.8Mbps
That's way more that what I use, or ever need 😀

Around 110-120 download, which is way faster than the vast majority of the population need. Even households with 2-3 people streaming shouldn't need that much. Plus, most sites throttle it to a way lower speed than that.

It's like pixels on a camera, printer or monitor. Big numbers are a sales gimmick, not something people actually need. They keep coming out with bigger and bigger numbers because it helps sales.

You don't need a fast speed for games. You only need a decent ping if you play real-time multiple player games. If you have 11 ping that's pretty damn fast. It's way faster than most gamers have.

It's pretty fast. I think we pay for the best we can get in the marina, and I split it with my neighbor. I almost never have any issues streaming, and I also use a VPN often.

My results with the VPN running: (264D, 11.3U)

With the VPN off, it's more than double: (597D, 11.8U)

I think it's fast enough and honestly I wish I had another neighbor to split it three ways. $35 a month isn't bad, but $25/mo is better.

Probably about 50 Mb/sec. However, FTTP is coming out way over the next year. Not sure yet as to what we will get.

Fast. I pay for the highest internet package available just in case. Wife does live videos and art stuff online (classes sometimes) so gotta make sure it has max uptime for her. And I built 2 towers for both of us and got us decent laptops since I travel regularly and she needs something mobile sometimes

149 Mbps down / 19.6 Mbps up. It's usually twice that but the storms are affecting service, according to the ISP
