Well..."not great". And I fully admit that might be completely unfair. In fact I KNO W it's no really fair. But... I just cannot help but be a little turned-off by it... SIMPLY because of the association with strippers. It subconsciouly makes me think of a girl as... I donno more "stripperish"? An admirer of strippers maybe? Someone who wants on some level to be a stripper? I'm not exactly sure.

But I do know one thing, (and this is just me, I am not claiming to be speaking for 'guys" here)... finding out that pole-dancing is a girls hobby makes me subconsciously associate her more closely with "strippers". And... strippers gross me the fuck out to be honest.

Now, it's not like I'm going to not date someone just because they happened to have this hobby. But unlike, swimming, horseback ridding, running, stamp-collecting or most other hobbies... I do end up making assumptions about a person.

There is perhaps a misunderstanding here. The question says... as a hobby and not as a job. Now it is possible her hobby is pole dancing for men without financial reward but I do know of a girl who has a pole set up in her bedroom.

So how do we feel about that? In a lot of ways it is a form of gymnastics and body art (refer pic again). If the hobby was the horizontal bar gymnastics we'd say good on her.
And we probably have to recognize it will make it into the olympics some time in the future.

So Tinytina09 is pole dancing your hobby and is that you in the pic? There are five pole dancing studios close by to where I live so it is quite popular but the girls might be keeping it a bit underground from the guys.

The girl with the private pole in her bedroom teaches little girls to pole dance. I am not sure that this is wise.

Nothing. I kinda wanna try it out myself. My fitness has gone in the rubbish since the pandemic and the amount of strength required to be able to pole dance always made me feel like I'll be so fit if I learn it!

How I feel? They are my closest friends and dance partners. I only do it as a hobby and excecise though. No intention of ever doing it as a job or in public.

Completely fine. it's an acceptable form of exercise in my opinion and it's an acceptable form of entertainment and work, if they so choose to pursue it. Anyone who doesn't like it is either antiquated in their beliefs, or extremely jealous and narcissistic.

Sounds awesome. I know girls who did it for exercise. There are classes for it. Just because it's a popular thing in strip clubs doesn't mean that it's any more lewd than yoga, dance or gymnastics. It's an art form that requires athleticism and is a good way to stay super limber and toned.

Its like any talent if you are great at it and are professional about it by all means do it. But if your doing it just for the attention and to just be giving sloppy extras to every other guy on the block expect to be treated like the way u act. AKA Don't be surprised if every guy is only hooking up for the 1 night stands.

she can do as she wants.
it may lead to a lucrative job if she gets really good at it.
might be a good idea to ensure the pole is secure and there's lots of padding under it.
good insurance - especially one sure to cover neck/back injuries - is a must.

Let's not pretend there is no relation to stripping and adult industry. Everyone knows half the class are girls that are or thinking about being a stripper. Half the instructors are or were strippers, and you're hanging around them. Not a good look.

I don't care mostly (indifferent), but I find it an interesting choice for women. They say good exercise etc, which may be true, but I don't think it's the only reasons. Plenty of other things that people don't automatically relate to strippers. Perhaps their "inner slut" coming out? lol And I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, just the phrase for my point. Maybe on a subconscious level makes them feel sexy and confident? Even if they are doing it alone.

I do aerials and trapeze so sometimes we have to dance on poles. It’s really hard on your arms and a great workout. I feel completely fine about it.
