LOL, check out this youtuber who has never watched Star Wars. She watched them in Episode order. She's heard of Darth Vader and knows he's bad but didn't know Anakin was going to become Darth Vader. Her shock was funny. The 1:10:50 mark.

  Thats good. Thats how the prequel trilogy is supposed to be enjoyed to the fullest extent. You're just like all of the other characters. Anakin is the hero, you root for him

Well in 1980, with Empires Strikes Back... it was an amazing shocker. "Luke, I am your father". Everyone was like no f'ing way!!! But you're 22 years old so you obviously don't remember that... my bad. Sorry.

The release of the remastered versions of the original trilogy was in 1997. I would guess a lot of people born prior to around 1990 would have seen them or at least heard about them and had a general idea.

In episode 1 the Phantom Menace he was a very "Cocky" kid so it wasn't that surprising.

  But he was still a good kid, and a very noble and heroic kid who had aspiration to become a heroic jedi knight. And he becomes a heroic jedi knight, and fights for a good 3 years in the clone wars, fighting saparatist and sith lord

  Not everybody did. Not everyone watched Star Wars, or loved Star Wars, or was old enough to has seen the original 3 first. Some people, in my generation, GenZ, first experience star wars with the prequel trilogy, and there first star wars movie was The Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones.

  He was a great hero Jedi Knight. He was the main protaganist of the first two movies. Well, the second one. He was the great child racer prodigy who freed himself from slavery. He was the chosen one. He survived the battle of Geonosis and lasted 30 seconds against Count Dooku as a Padawan tusken raider thing was a minor mistep in the path of tha Chosen One. He was right to fall in love, and be human. but he end up comg out on top He was the hero of the Clone Wars. Im surprised he didn't fall to the dark side by this point, he is a great jedi hero, he would never turn to the dark side. I woulda never thought.
